But, due to a news article released in Entertainment Weekly today that touched on a IRL production touching on things moving forward in earnest, I felt it was right to let the cat out of the bag. NUMERATOR PICTURES PROVIDES THE ROYAL TREATMENT A film that has been listed on Numerator Pictures' studio plans for some time now is The Queen Who Never Was, which has only been noted as being a "Fantasy Drama". The studio had planned to keep all news for the Michelle MacLaren-helmed film as quiet as possible, but given certain confident discourse by other studios about what winter films actually mattered, studio executives decided it was time to reveal the card up their sleeve. Spoiler Once Upon a Time..... Dragons Ruled the Seven Kingdoms Numerator Pictures invites you to the realm of Westeros, approximately two hundred years before the events of the massive hit television show Game of Thrones took the world by storm. The epic fantasy drama spans the course of approximately fifteen years and follows a web of love, adventure, intrigue, heartbreak, and betrayal amongst the many members of the Targaryen ruling family during the final years of the reign of the most beloved king of their dynasty, culminating in the weighty question of who comes next to the infamous Iron Throne. Numerator Pictures in choosing this story to adapt has envisioned it as The Irishman meets High Fantasy, with a story of epic budget, epic scope, and epic-running time presenting a tale of family drama, discord, and division in a non-linear fashion, with the film intending to shift between a few different chronologies within the over-arching 15-year frame for the film. The film joins Mass Effect: Revelation as the first Numerator Pictures films with $200 Million budgets, and when asked why so much, the answer given was pretty straightforward: "Massive cast, realistic CGI dragons, Massive location shooting and production sets, realistic CGI dragons, a Massive naval battle, realistic CGI dragons." Numerator Pictures intends to spare no expense on the scope of the film, and that goes to the running time, which we've been told "would be 3 hours at the minimum" due to the film's intent to really dig deep into the characters and motivating events that bring them together and drive them apart. Numerator Pictures also intends to fully use the film to highlight the insidious effect of the setting's patriarchy on strong, independent women and how they driven to act in accordance with, or in rebellion to it, something that Game of Thrones acknowledged, but never really dived deep into at any point. This was part of the reason why the studio went with a female director, albeit one with previous experience directing episodes for the original television show. Much consideration went into the casting for the film, which resulted in definitely one of, if not the largest billed cast for a Numerator Pictures film. Given the time-span of the film, many of the actors and actresses will utilize a mix of make-up and digital aging/de-aging to accomodate the roles across the full timeframe. cookie Posted July 23, 2020 Share Posted July 23, 2020 Cookie Pictures announces a spy film for Y9, Danny Boyle to direct After today's announcement of the Y7 Oscar nominations, of which Cookie Pictures scored fifteen for The Scavenger Wars Part III and three for Hilda and the Midnight Giant, during a post-announcement conference the head of Cookie Pictures, Sebastian Peters, confirmed the studio was working on a "Bond-style" spy film for release in Year 9, with 28 Days Later and Slumdog Millionaire helmer Danny Boyle tapped to direct. No other details were announced, and Peters confirmed that casting would still be months away, but the concept is "sort of amalgamation of various eras of the spy genre," citing not just influence from James Bond, but also Mission: Impossible, Notorious, Jack Ryan, Man from U.N.C.L.E. and multiple others. It was only a matter of time before a sequel was announced. It has a cold atmosphere Orphan [Korean]: Jun Do. (Jun Do looks at him) Orphan: Jun Do, why did the Orphan Master burn you with the coal shovel and take your shoes? Jun Do [Korean]: My face brings him pain. Orphan: Why? Jun Do: He sees my mother, she was taken to Pyongyang for the Dear Leader. Japanese Sea Scene cuts back to the moment at Sea. You see the aftermath of the scene, Jun Do getting up and coughing. The water is only waist deep. Jun Do moves towards the shore, toward the outline of man on the beach. Jun Do [in Japanese, pronunciation butchered]: Good evening! How are you doing The akita runs towards Jun Do with a ball in its mouth, you can see the old man looking nervous taking a step backwards. You hear a faint “Get him!” in Korean from Officer So back on the boat. The man bolts running and Jun Do begins chasing after him, the dog running along happily barking as if it were play. The camera pans forward on Jun Do’s face, his eyes closed and then zooms out as you see him reach the man, executing a spinning kick to the back of his head knocking him down. The dog is now growling in fear, Jun Do pulls the unconscious man’s feet over his shoulders. The dog is following along as Jun Do drags the man, scratching at his head confused. As Jun Do goes into the water the dog is seen running in circles in a sad frustration, howling. As you watch the scene of Jun Do bring the man towards the skiff, the camera stays focused on the dog as Jun Do moves away from the beach, onto the skiff, loads the man up and the boat takes off into the distance. Suffering from an unspecified delusional disorder, Leigh's psychosis ramps up as his prescribed medication becomes scarce as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, blurring the lines between reality and fiction while he's investigating strange happenstances already linked to supposed supernatural curses. "Leigh is in many ways a straight but also tortured and somewhat off-beat man," Cookie Pictures President and CEO Sebastian Peters said when describing Leigh's character. "He has a job to do, and he takes it as seriously as he can under the circumstances, but the pandemic has done a number on him. He treats getting infected as a life-threatening scenario despite not being traditionally ascribed as part of the risk groups, fearing the disease'll only make his already worsening psychosis, well... even worse. As such, he never leaves the house or the station without full face cover on, no matter how the rest of Leffield treats him for it." "We're thrilled to have Tennant back at Cookie Pictures for the first time since his Oscar win in Year 3,” Peters spoke of the casting. "I believe that, between his turn as Scrooge McDuck, the tenth doctor, various theater work and our main source of inspiration, the 2013 crime drama Broadchurch, Tennant is one of our most versatile actors, and I think his mix of rootability and off-beat intensity lends perfectly to portraying Leigh." Jodie Whitaker as Amanda Schaffer Leigh’s partner at the local Leffield police department. Amanda is the closest Leigh has to a friend, platonic or otherwise, but their relationship has always been strictly professional. Being less experienced in the field than Leigh, she seeks his advice on every matter she’s not confident in handling herself, and she avoids taking action when he doesn’t. Once authorized to engage, however, her cautious demeanor is known to flip on a dime, and her conduct when handling certain situations has gotten her in trouble with the precinct and Leigh himself more than once. ”The strain that soon lays on Leigh and Amanda’s relationship is in how her insistence that she won’t repeat the same mistakes rings less and less true, and it becomes a trust issue with both Leigh and the people she interacts with,” Peters explained. ”As the situation worsens both internally and externally for Leigh, his belief in Amanda having his back without her going overboard similarly lessens.” Bella Ramsay as Cailee Waxman Leigh’s 16-year old daughter. Possibly autistic, she is even less social than her father, and the ongoing pandemic has given her an excuse to either stay home and follow the news almost obsessively, or insist that she joins her father in his detective work. She claims she does it because she’s only looking out for him when he can’t look out for himself, but Leigh suspects there’s a more morbid fascination with both his work and the state of the world at large that draws her, although Cailee has never admitted to it. Whenever anyone but Leigh is present, she would retreat to barely saying a word, although Amanda has made minuscule strides in getting her to open herself up to other people more. ”Ramsay’s performance will be one to look out for,” Peters said of her casting. ”I think she more than most emphasizes [director Lynne Ramsey’s] desire to tell as much of the story mon-verbally as possible, and in some ways she is Leigh’s bridge between reality and fiction whenever he loses track of it himself.” Olivia Colman as Brittany "Britt" Ekland The head councilwoman of the town of Leffield and the person most insistent with going ahead with the wickerman burning, Britt more or less makes it her mission to get Leigh and the rest of the department on her side of the issue no matter how much Leigh refutes her proposal as being reckless and likely for naught in saving the town, resulting in Leigh more or less becoming an unofficial spokesperson for the opposition. "Britt is not the stereotypical politician that would put the town over human lives, and she is quick to acknowledge when a situation is about to spiral out of control," Peters explained. "But she also believes in the dubious promise of results being able to compensate for the risks taken, and so she presses forward no matter how bad things get. She's not heartless, but she's stubborn." Peter Davison as Alden Sharp The priest of the local church and at one time a father figure for Leigh, but their relationship has grown more distant as Leigh's own faith has been shaken by both his predicament and tragedies in his past. Despite preaching outwardly that a strong sense of community and compassion will help get them through the crisis, Sharp expresses privately that he sees the COVID virus as part of god's wrath for the already deteriorating state of the world, and the town's reliance on a pagan symbol for so long plays no small part in his distaste for the state of things. What Leigh soon starts to suspect, however, is that Sharp may have further reasons for his stance on paganism than a strictly religious one. Described by studio insiders as the heart and whimsy of E.T. The Extra Terrestrial mixed with the thrills and scares of ParaNorman titled The Good Duppy, directed by Everett Downing Jr. (Hair Love). Set in St. James, Barbados, an anxiety riddled Bajan boy named Tim is devastated by the loss of his grandfather, who was like his best friend. Things escalates as Tim befriends a Duppy, a known to be malevolent spirit who have forgotten who they were as humans that reside on the island but the Duppy turns out to be childlike and friendly. Believing it to be the soul of his grandfather, due to its attributes, Tim must face his fears, travels the island with the Duppy to help it pass on to the afterlife as well fend off other more dangerous Duppies as well as the other supernatural forces of the island.
