The DC Universe is expanding with Endless Entertainment with the DC Multiverse.

It is being reported Endless Entertainment has acquired the rights to adapt Power Girl, Bumblebee, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl and Hawkman to use in a Crisis On Multiple Earth film tentatively aiming for Y10. However, Endless Entertainment plans to crossover with some of the DC franchises it has already in an eventual Crisis on Multiple Earth film where Static, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold and the Green Lantern Corps.

Three Universes exist in the setup: Earth 1 contains most of the aforementioned heroes including Static, Earth 2 is home to Blue Beetle and Booster Gold and Earth 3 is home to the Green Lantern Corps, Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

While Endless is unsure about adapting all of the aforementioned heroes due to past failures of cinematic universe (GameVerse, plans of Ladybug/Possible movie), they will plan to introduce only a select amount of heroes in solo film with Power Girl and Green Arrow are options.

Nia DaCosta (the upcoming Candyman) will write and direct an upcoming original horror film for Infinite Studios dubbed Heartman based on the Bajan folklore of a demon who kills children and sacrifices their hearts to the devil. Jordan Peele and Jason Blum are attached to produce this project.

The cast is as follows:

Meagan Good

Chosen Jacobs (Castle Rock)

Evan Alex (US)

Marsai Martin (Little, black-ish, Medusa)

JD McCracy (The Lion King, Antonius)

LaKeith Stanfeild (Straight Outta Compton)

David Harewood (Homeland)

Good stars as Monica, a struggling single mother of four children, responsible Arleigh (Jacobs), studious and somewhat precocious Harper (Martin), troublemaker Finn (Alex) and Kaleb (McCracy) in Wisconsin, who plans on returning back to her home country Barbados for vacation with her children to visit her father (Harewood) and to celebrate Crop Over, a Mardi-Gras like festival in the country as well as for her children to see their heritage. However, the vacation soon becomes a nightmare as the terrifying Heartman (Stanfield), a thousand year old demon has his sights set on killing Monica’s children so he can steal and sacrifice their hearts.

S P A R K :      A     H E R O ' S     P R O M I S E

Original Soundtrack

Score by Thomas Newman and Benjamin Wallfisch

OVERVIEW: Combining elements of the scores across the saga, Spark: A Hero's Promise ends the saga on a truly epic and innovative score. Thomas Newman's etheral style of music becomes fused with a pulse pounding operatic vision from Benjamin Wallfisch. There's a sense of hope and uncertainty throughout the score, which ranges from a subtle, piano and string driven focus for smaller emotional scenes to heavily orchestral and choral backing for some of the epic battles that occur throughout the tale. Synthesizers are used throughout and play along in different ways through various scenes, calling back to films like Blade Runner and even the Duffer Brothers' own Stranger Things. Below, you can see how specific motifs and movements occur on the character driven level, all of which are the leading themes throughout the saga.

The original song, "Infinite Fire" by Chloe x Halle, will play over the credits. Click here for lyrics.

Main Score Inspirations through the saga:

CHARACTER THEMES/INSPIRATIONS (CONTAINS **MAJOR** SPOILERS):

Spoiler

Alex’s Theme:

Spoiler

A classical and vibrant adventure theme, room for danger and uncertainty, but ultimately remaining steadfast and positive. A full orchestra carries the tune but leaves room for Thomas Newman’s classical beauty. A more slow and touching version carries some of her more emotional scenes as well, carried more by piano rather than the typical strings. In her scenes with Xevarre, the themes become intertwined in style.

Kozar’s Theme:

Spoiler

There’s more of a thrilling and uplifting energy to this piece, along with Kozar’s loyalty and kindness. This is less directly orchestral and more in line with Thomas Newman’s typical work, full of wonder, beauty, and excitement. There’s a more energetic variation during his action scenes, granted.

The Resistance/Altren:

Spoiler

A variety of instruments, including some relatively bizarre and unique ones to film scores, with an intense yet exciting energy, showcasing the depth and variety within the fight against the Soltarans, carry scenes within the Presidio of Infinity. I especially focused on more unique and eccentric instruments as well. There’s a bit of a somber undercurrent, but there’s still a bustle of hope and exhilaration that carries through the piece. As Altren’s true colors are revealed, the themes take a much darker turn.

Naryani’s Theme:

Spoiler

This is a bit interesting, as much of it is based on a major key version of her theme in Spark 1.Her theme is heavily driven by piano, coming down from her regret and pain of her past life, but moving towards a more triumphant and epic scale as things take a turn for the better. This clips shows her state, fear, uncertainty, and shame, before ultimately shifting towards her redemption.

The Soltaran Empire:

Spoiler

Part of the reason I added Wallfisch to the score from Beyond the Sky onward was to really draw inspiration from his horror scores. There will be a hugely eerie element to their music, combining proud, imperialistic marches with the dread of something overtly similar, drained out when the Soltarans feel like their own heroes. Fuse that with the score for Blade Runner 2049, along with an operatic choir, for something truly terrifying and brooding.

Xevarre’s Theme:

Spoiler

A bit like the intensity of the Soltaran theme, but there’s a softness and moodiness that can nonetheless become quite shrill if need be necessary. There’s a deep longing in her music, and an emotional pain hidden beneath the brashness of her people. The technical elements help to give an ethereal and emotional element to her struggle and desperation, working towards beauty rather than intensity. However, these themes can build towards more terrifying and disturbing arrangements in her scenes where she loses her way.

Aera and Hovi:

Spoiler

A bit more of a playful and laid back tone, abruptly taking the occasional – and humorously jarring – shift into madcap chaos. Until then, there’s a lightly jazzy and fun tone to these wacky and fun characters.

(2:43-4:55)

Mevino:

Spoiler

This is almost a bit of a variant of the resistance theme, and much of his theme has an excitement and wonder to it that’s hard to find elsewhere. His wide eyed optimism helps to elevate the music around him, and the youthful energy also helps fuse with a lightly tech-inspired score. I know this is a recent film, but it fits the vibe well.

Taika Waititi (Olive the Other Reindeer, Treasure Planet) is setting up groundwork for a Y7 crime comedy with Hourglass Pictures. Tentatively titled Kiwi Heist, the film follows a young Maori man (James Rollestone) trying to retrieve a family artifact unjustly taken by an unscrupulous museum curator. (Jemaine Clement)

@cayommagazine

The cast for Taika Waititi’s Hercules has been revealed:

Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, The Last Song) stars in the lead role as Hercules, the demigod of strength with a heart of gold but with the ego and self righteousness the size of Mount Olympus

Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) stars as Megara, a snarky and street smart reluctant minion of Hades

Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man, The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes) stars as Hades, the main antagonist and God of Death

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead, Supernatural) stars as Zeus, the king of the Gods, mighty god of thunder and Hercules’ father

Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man, Sideways) stars as Philoctes, the ornery satyr bent on training heroes for fame.

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney star as Pain and Panic, Hades’ bumbling demonic henchman, Pain is boisterous and Panic is well, panicky but both are loyal worms

Carrie Anne Moss (The Matrix, Memento) stars as Hera, The Queen of Gods and Hercules’ adoptive mother

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Raven-Symoné, Tiffany Haddish, Zendaya and Janelle Monae star as the Muses of Art and sort of the unreliable narrator of our story.

The plot for the adaptation reads:

”Hercules (Liam Hemsworth), the rather pompous and vain god of strength, son of Zeus (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Alkmene who passed giving birth to him, has been raised on Mount Olympus by Zeus and Hera for most of his life under the belief he was a pure blood god until he devastedly learns the truth. Hades (Robert Downey Jr.), the god of the underworld has been trying to take Mount Olympus for himself tricks Hercules, the one destined to stop his plot of freeing the Titans, into going to Earth to prove himself worthy as a god. However, proving to be a trap, Hercules is poisoned and loses his vast healing factor but retains a small amount of his still very super strength. With the help of his trusty steed Pegasus, satyr trainer Phil (Paul Giamatti) and the snarky Megara (Rachel Bloom) who Hercules is attracted to, must learn to put aside his ego and find out what it means to be a true hero while facing unimaginable monsters and beasts sent by Hades.
