Not really, there was only one person who said it would open above $100m. Most of them said it would open on the same range as Halloween since it would be more front than your typical Horror movie and that's what ended happening.

Not really, some of the % cops were over a huge range.

 

Also, it is difficult to track pre sales for horror.

In any case, even if it end being so front-loaded on OW as US, it would still guarantee at least $30m for the OW, considering that US was almost as front as IT, I really doubt it will be the same situation.

 

I'm seeing $35m for now.

Anything above $40m would be fantastic and would lock a $100m total.

It would be hilarious (but awesome) if, of all the horror films with potential to open to 100-million that we have had recently (Halloween and US being the most obvious ones), it were Pet Sematary the one that actually managed that feat, That would be a Jurassic-World-style surprise, especially in the realm of horror and because the buzz for this doesn't seem as palpable as Us or It. Then again, this has the brand recognition (Stephen King) and it follows the biggest-grossing SK adaptation ever.

Who knows what happens, but I will be closely watching this film's box office.

There's nothing indicating it will open with $60m, let alone with $100m. JW had that PG13 rating helping to explode, and it being a four quadrant movie, PS doesn't have the same luxury. Anything above $40m would be breakout territory for this.

Sure. But it would be the equivalent of God 2 opening at $70m, not a disappointing at all, but a letdown considering you (and me) knows there's potencial for much more.

Well Pet Sematary is one of King's most iconic novels, alongside Shining and It. I believe Shazam will open first place, but I wouldn't be surprised if Pet Sematary has a strong opening in its own right.

Is it? If you read the first pages of this topic you'll see several members saying it wouldn't do huge numbers because it wasn't one of the iconic King classics.

what about Carrie? That movie was bigger than any of those adaptations and is a horror classic.

It doesn't stop dropping at RT, now at 81%.

 

I'm starting getting desperate that it may miss the fresh certified, I thought it was locked for a 85%+ after that first bunch of reviews.

 

I'm gonna have a meltdown if it is another Blair Witch situation.

I thought reviews were off the charts for this? Convinced my bf we needed to see it this weekend over Us (which I've already seen). Still going but it'll be disappointing if it isn't at least solid!
