riczhang
It's Hoffman vs Jones with De Niro and DiCaprio likely to score a nod. Someone from Les Mis will take the fifth spot.Hoffman's chances for a win are dead right now.
Moviedweeb
I think Tommy Lee Jones is a great actor but I found his performance to be a bit cartoony and kind of a caricature of himself.
acsc1312
Hoffman is about the only lock right now (with Jones second). That's one of the sure noms the Master will get.

4815162342
Hoffman remains a good shot for a nom until the critc awards say otherwise.Likewise someone like Redmayne is on the outside until the critic awards push him in.
forg
I hope we don't have a frontrunner this year and we'll have various winners on those precursors
Jake Gittes
Anne Thompson @akstanwyck @Pokernatic @awardsdaily @filmawardsshow leo is great in Django but my guess is Samuel jackson grabs the supporting attention.
4815162342
Obviously he has no shot but I think Guy Pearce in Lawless warrants consideration.

fishstick
The Master is fading but it`s likelier that Phoenix will be the victim than PSH. Harvey has Cooper who`s gaining momentum and didn`t talk shit about Oscar process (well, Phoenix`s technically right but that doesn`t help his chances). OTOH, Harvey has several candiates to choose from and neither seems as stable as PSH - there`s obviously a split among critics which Django actor is a standout among 3 oft-mentioned standouts (NYCC went with Waltz, NBR with Leo while some consider SLJ to trump them all) and DeNiro is yet to make a showing with precursors though he is in pundit`s conversation. Also, it isn`t unusual for Harvey to have more than 1 contender per category so he`ll likely try hard to push PSH, DeNiro and one of Django actors. However, between Waltz, Leo and SLJ, Waltz has no shot at winning, so it`s going to be Leo or SLJ unless critcs push so hard for Waltz that it makes no sense to push ones with weaker support. JackO
With Leo back in I have trouble seeing anymore dark horses in this particular race.JonesMMDe NiroLeoHoffmanWell I thought it was all locked up but Harvey throws a curve and puts Waltz in Supporting. Def, not as confident on MM as I was before.

Jake Gittes
Wait, Waltz is supporting now? Having Di Caprio and Jackson there wasn't enough?
The Stingray
Is there a chance Django wont get anything (really hope not)? Edited December 8, 2012 by Don Niam The Stingray
riczhang
Is there a chance Django wont get anything (really hope not)?Definitely. Now that there's 3 contenders from the same movie there's a very real possibility that they'll split votes big time and all miss out.
