Coco and JL 3-day was gonna be close with edge to Coco. Did not expect nearly a 10m gap over the 3-day itself.

Though JL doing a sub-55% drop is good imo. The O/U Logan fears have been dispelled.

So quick math. Justice League has already fallen behind Fantastic Beasts which made an additional 78m after this weekend. So if projections hold and JL is at 173 that would put the ceiling at 251m. However its likely to do much less so perhaps heading for 230-235m domestic finish. Incredible.

Coco is doing good. Justice League's terrible numbers never fail to surprise me. It truly is the TMNT 2 of 2017. Your sequel will be punished if audiences hated the previous film. I should have caught this failure but I absolutely did not.

Time to lower my expectations for Dark Phoenix...

Many DC / Snyder fans said that critics have been harsh and that the general reception by the audience was much better but that's clearly not true, people didn't like BVS at all.

That's a good lesson for Marvel/DC : if you want to create a long-lasting somethingverse you need your movies to be top notch, having famous characters won't be enough.

That's why Marvel succeeded : even if many of their movies are not particularly exceptional or innovative they're still good and do the job. They need to create real, memorable villains though, because if they don't some people could be bored, I'm starting to be tired of shitty villains, a great, powerful villains is what is lacking in these comicbook movies to be more than "fine" or "good" : that would be exciting. Remember the Winter Soldier when he was hiding his identity : he was really cool and evil :D

JL's surprising drop from BVS still does not compare to the stunning drop of TMNT2. The shock value for JL may be higher because bigger numbers and bigger expectations are involved.

But TMNT2 was 81 vs TMNT1's 191 : 57% drop. That's like JL doing 188m dom down from BVS's 330. TMNT2 dom was 39% of the prod budget (135), same as JL doing 183 (using a prod budget of 300).

Only in name. BVS already had the Trinity. Then they added AQM, Flash, Cyborg and Superman took a back seat. They f'ed up with BVS and JL was BVS-lite. Though not denying that it's performance is horrid. Will take a few more days to match TA's ow of 208. 250 dom and 700 ww won't be locked 10 days into it's release (even with 100+ from China). Coco should go over it ww (and possibly dom too).

Justice League's performance just gets worse and worse. Before the movie was released, under $350M was considered bad. Once the movie was released, under $300M was considered bad. Now, we're starting to talk abut the possibility of it going under $250M.

Also, on a separate but ironic note, this is the year that WB just had one of its greatest successes of all-time with Wonder Woman.

Dark Phoenix's gross will really depend on its quality and marketing campaign.  200m would be hard, even if it's great, but it could easily drop under 100m.

they shouldn't kick off with

Spoiler
