Weekend Thread: 50SF - 38.8m, PR - 25m, 15:17 - 12.6m

Recommended Posts

Here's the thing with this weekend (and next)...both of these weekends will be Valentine's celebrations (plus Wednesday)...so for the folks celebrating early, what are they gonna pick?  There are about 2 options for this weekend - one for younger folks or who want steamy fare (50 Shades) and one for older ones or who want happy, clean fare (15:17)...that's about it, b/c everything else has been in the market forever...

So, both should do "better than expected from presale projections" b/c folks will be taking their sweethearts to one of these:)...those low 30's and 10 predictions will probably both be really low...

They are. They're just protections based off typical studio estimates and tracking. The fact that FSF opened with only a little less then Darker's midnight, means it has a strong chance of making around 45m this weekend (depending on how it drops), which is more then the 33 - 39m estimated. Peter Rabbit should also do quite well (I say around 25m or maybe higher), since presales are strong, and there hasn't been a major kids / family film in a while.

Shorter Samson runtime will allow it to have more shows than BP :ohmygod:

BP looking at 140-150 3-day / 175-180 4-day it seems. Will be hard to miss Wonder Woman's 412.6m with that. DP1 legs take it to 415-430 with that 4-day.

Why are we still predicting 140 m OW for BP?

A certain deep person put 200 m 4-day on the table as possible.

Can't see why it would play so much worse over the weekend than the last so 40-45m is likely

I thought a nearly the same as the last one performance was probable yes, the first one became an event talked in the regular media a lot, overreached is natural audience/book reader, second was already just the fans (150m book sold, that a movie that does not need to reach outside the core fanbase really much to be giant, like the Potters) and if they were there for the second after that first, why not the 3rd.
