That movie looks crazy. Like too out there for my sensibilities. The twitter verse seems to like it. Not that there are a whole lot of tweets about it though.

I'll be seeing it tonight.  It's one of the few movies I've been looking forward to this year.

$15m would be about 74% higher than Deadpool's Wednesday. Black Panther's Tuesday was about 80% higher than Deadpool's Tuesday. Needs to stay 80% ahead to reach Last Jedi's estimated final gross of $621m. 74% lead on Deadpool the rest of the way would mean a final gross of $610m.

I dunno.  I like BP but I think this might be frontloaded a bit.  Special movie is special?  Could see those percentages do a daily slip by just a tad.

Not to say its not going to make huge money, way more than most thought possible.  But this could be the kind of thing where it ends up more like 500m Dom rather than 600m.

Needs to run 16.5% ahead of Deadpool the rest of the way to reach $500m. I think that's locked to happen. Needs to run 44% ahead of Deadpool the rest of the way to reach $550m, which seems very likely to happen as well. The 6-day gross is 61% ahead of Deadpool and Wednesday is 74% ahead of Deadpool for the same day.

projections have it at 100M+ for 2nd we, around 50% drop which is amazing for such a huge opener, and around 400M in 10 days. I think the range would be 550-600, instead of 500-600.

Literally every indication thus far points to the opposite of frontloading

By mega-opening standards anyway. Jumanji is already at 7.2 multiplier from 5-day opening. Panther would need $1.9 billion domestic to pull off that type of backloading.

Yea Jumanji busted out those Jim Cameron legs, doesn't fit into normal multiplier curves lol

Greatest Showman is at 11.68 multiplier from 5-day opening. That would be about $3.07 billion domestic for Panther. :lol:

Maybe Black Panther will have Greatest Showman legs and get to $4.8 billion domestic

@IronJimbo nervous?

Let's just give it Big Fat Greek legs and say it gets to 81B

that's just unrealistic, since you're using a limited release opening multiplier. should really keep expectations in check.
