As we always through, Black Panther will arrive at $500M by the end of today. Early morning estimates show the Disney/Marvel movie with a $30.4M Saturday, +84% over Friday’s $16.5M for a weekend that’s around $66.7M, down an awesome 40% and a running cume at $502.1M.

Only 150.3 away from JW. That's 2.25x the 3rd weekend. DP added 2.50x the 3rd weekend.

 

EDIT: Considering it's trending better than DP would be reasonable to err the other way and assume BP will add 2.75x the 3rd weekend compared to DP's 2.50x. That gives 502.1+183.4 = 685.5 dom.

So, next weekend it needs a drop of 44.2% to be the 3rd biggest 4th weekend above The Avengers' $36.7 million

 

35.7% drop would put it above The Force Awakens' $42.25 million would give it 2nd best 3rd weekend.

 

And the much more impossible 23.5% drop would put it above Avatar for best 3rd weekend.

 

My guess is very close to Avengers, but its fun to think how insane it would be if it was possible for it to beat the top 2

$66.7 million brings those percentages to 44.9%, 36.6% and 24.5% respectively

Its looking more and more likely that it will soar past JW and Titanic. Im sad to see JW falling a spot but this is just a breathtaking run by BP.

Also, the half a year span since mid-December could be the most insane Box office time of recent memory. We have the 620M run by TLJ, then the 650M+ run by Black Panther, the (very likely) 500M+ run by Infinity War beginning in April. Shortly after that Deadpool 2 and Solo, both of which could open higher than 150M. And after that Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World 2.

 

And on top of all that, we had (have) the awesome runs by Jumanji and Showman. BO is more than alive guys and its doing incredibly well.
