All things considered that is an ok drop for Panther - city areas much like the East play a big part in the gross.

Something to consider over the next 2 weeks or so is the effect of Spring Break upon the rises/drops. My area starts break tomorrow and is off all of next week with surrounding states beginning as well. So Fridays may look good without the accompanying huge Saturday surge we are used to. Just putting that out there as an FYI in case people start getting worried. Will make the next month (through the week after Easter) weird to track.

LOL never change Jimbo, never change. Problems with the calendar (films that don't comply ala Jedi not withstanding) is that we constantly have a fresh rotation of newbs who don't understand how things work. Which is why everyone cries that the sky is falling on Easter Saturday / Sunday and then bounces back with the good hold on Monday before a fall on Tuesday.

As @a2knet pointed out the -38% yesterday is fine in the context of the whole week - haven't seen the film, and am not a Disney / Marvel shill so I have no vested interest other than big box-office tends to float all ships and all ships floating is better than sinking.

As for the rest of the films, Spring Break will effect how they play (as it does every year ;) )

It appears that Shape of Water will be a middling post-win performer.... Stands to reason considering that rentals and # of tickets sold beats every winner from the last 5 years.

For the record, the snow storm here in PA was so bad, the governor announced it as a "state of emergency." I don't know if that's the case for other Northeast states, but it's definitely hitting the area hard, and obviously isn't making people come out to the theater. So please don't be concerned about BP's performance yesterday.

As someone who has been trying to travel from Maine to New York all day, I want to second that the weather up here is complete garbage if you aren’t in a city. Lot of trees and power lines down. I wouldn’t expect much from the Northeast/New England today or tomorrow.

I bet it's more profitable than SILVER LININGS. :)

Hum even with Weinstein, DeNiro, Russel and Cooper back end compensation deal..... 236m on a 20m budget is quite the feat, a free movie making 60m would not be close to that level of profits.

Russel nominated movie tended to do great on home video, American Hustle made 161m in revenues in the domestic market alone from is 150m dbo and I would imagine Silver Lining had a significantly higher revenues / box office ratio.

BP catches up to Jumanji's global cume. Before BP's ow used to think Jumanji will beat all CBMs 2017-2018 except AIW.

Stop trying to belittle Jumanji's performance. No one thought that. People just noticed that Jumanji beat all 2017 CMB movies worldwide, BP was never part of the conversation.
