Why the weather sure is pleasant on this nice June night in Florida, thank you very much.

yes but has the good weather infected the minds of enough millions of people to sway the domestic numbers northward on such a night?

Disney would have been better off moving Nutcracker and the Four Realms to Memorial and Solo to first weekend in November with Ralph for Thanksgiving or vice versa.

Nutcracker is such a  Christmas/Holiday event that even November is probably too early in the year for it.  They could have moved Ralph to March where there was nothing for kids (it worked great for Zootopia and that even had the Jungle Book close to it) and had Solo take the Thanksgiving spot.

Ah yes, The Nutcracker, a movie based on a Christmas ballet...should have been released in May.

Yeah, better to open it in a overcrowded November where it has to go up against not one, not two but three huge kids movies in the same mouth whereas there was no major kids movies in the entire month of May and nothing until I2 in mid-June.

Judging by how Jurassic World and Incredibles sold out most shows at the theater tonight, I'd say it has!

Wreck-It Ralph was supposed to be an early year release at one point but was pushed back (I'm guessing cause they wanted distance between it and Incredibles and also wanted an animated movie out later in the year). But yeah, no way would they have released Nutcracker at any other time of year but around the holidays. Universal wouldn't have released The Grinch at any other time of year either.

Beasts 2, Ant Man 2 and Venom have the best chance at an $100M+ OW but all look like longshots. Beasts 2 might suffer as Beasts 1 didn’t have people craving more, AM2 needs way too big of a jump and arguably opening after two big movies with the same target audience might hurt, and Venom although trailer views has been impressive depends largely on quality, if it is shit, it’s toast.

Grinch killed it chance after shitty trailer, Halloween needs more buzz, Ralph 2 and Poppins have a five day, and Aquaman has too much competition.

Beasts 2 stars Johnny Depp in the year 2018 it's not opening to 100M

#DumpDepp #FetchFarrell

Jokes on them, Dumbo gets a 100m OW as justice for their sins.

OTOH, Nutcracker on MD would've timed it perfectly with the Morgan Freeman sexual abuse allegations

Yeah.  Okay, how's about this- Disney saves AWiT for streaming, moves Ralph to March, Nutcracker stays first weekend in Nov and Solo takes Thanksgiving.

Disney's only saving that streaming service for low-budget fare that they had nothing to lose by sending them there.

People still living in that fantasy world where Solo would have made a billion in December. Disney is so successful that people just can't handle them releasing 2 bombs this year.  A Wrinkle in Time would have made a billion too if people weren't so racist according to these people. Black Panther doesn't exist.  You were wrong about Star Wars always being a sure thing. A lot of people thought a film about a young Han Solo was a lousy idea no matter what time of year it was released in.

Nutcracker is coming so it'll be 3 bombs

Disney's "everything's a tentpole!" release strategy from now means it's entirely feast or famine, which at least makes for exciting BO watching

I will say it's nice to see Hollywood is trying to revive the Christmas-themed blockbuster twice this year, as it's basically become dormant the last several years (most likely because it takes too long to make money off of them; holiday films save their home releases until the following holiday season for maximum sales).
