I don’t see higher than TP or even $200M DOM numbers for it to be honest, it opens next to a major kid targeted animated film (first since Rita) and arguably the most light hearted option in March, and opens after Secret Saturdays another major live action family film. Both Gigantic and Saturdays will be PG and it won’t get IMAX. Can't really put it in February for reasons that should be obvious...
Blankments
wow, in a way i'm sad we're doing Olive the Other Reindeer because now Thanksgiving is wide open for a musical 4-quad animated musical and I still don't feel hot about Space Musical's release date. But hey, more room for Olive anyway

I understand Rita but you could move it to February 26th. Still would be better than opening it in March where not only is the family field stacked but it not getting IMAX it’s key value. It seems like a bad move especially as a pseudo sequel to a not fondly remembered Disney film.

cookie
@Xillix ignore my earlier post and put Countdown and Dragon back in their respective May and October slots and retain IMAX. The October surprise has been cancelled for now. Metroid, Catholic and Heart's Song are still delayed. Xillix
@Slambros @cookie @YourMother the Edgelord @Hiccup23 @Reddroast @Spagspiria @4815162342 @Rorschach @Alpha @Blankments @vault2008 @Electric @Ethan Hunt Okay we open Part 1 in two days so now's the time to lock in your actual pre-loads for the official playing-in-progress schedule. As a reminder: Anything you've successfully reserved IMAX for here is automatically a pre-load. Otherwise, post a reply listing the movies you want to be in the first post of the P1 thread when it goes up. The requirements for pre-loading are that you're either positioning the film as a major, serious Oscar contender, or it's a big tentpole with a reasonable chance of grossing $100 million domestic. Polite debate about the merits of choices regarding these qualifications is allowed. If you don't make a post telling me your pre-loads before the thread goes up at 7 PM EST (GMT -5) on January 2nd, then I'll need to just guess which movies you intended. Mine are:ByteRealm (tentpole)Heroes Within (IMAX)Ace Combat (normally I wouldn't expect this to cross $100M but given how gaga we are for videogame movies...)In the Valley (IMAX)The Insectoids (tentpole)Friday the 13th (tentpole - given the recent Halloween's performance I think it's got a chance)He-Man III: The Horror of Hordak (IMAX)Voicemail (tentpole - again, wouldn't normally expect $100M but given how my recent October horror flicks have done...)American Dragon 3 (IMAX)Rock & Roll Heart Attack (Oscar contender)Earthsong Volume II: The Mandragora (Tentpole) Edited December 31, 2018 by Xillix
