Thank you for confirming that $900M on a $55M budget isn't so bad, even if it is obviously a huge disappointment for DC. Xftg123
Is there a chance the movie will get a re-release during awards season or no?
KP1025
Joker even coming close to $1 billion WW is incredibly impressive considering the hurdles it faced (R-rated, low budget drama, no China release, etc). 4

With normal legs from now on Joker should finish with 640m OS with 42% drop also there are school breaks, halloween holiday and few more holiday in Japan. Japan in Saturday also still overperform that 45m become realistic now also Germany overperform with 10 more. Do you think 340 domestic still possible ? It has slowed down this weekend. Movies have recovered after a meh weekend. But it needs better holds to beat BvS and Suicide squad domestic. Otherwise it ends in 310-320 region. Last week I thought 350 can happen. Anyway its all gravy at this point. This has been an extraordinary run WW. 3
Valonqar
That's the problem with R rated movies. They exhaust their audience faster than PG-13.

There were some re-expansion that got ASIB some 30m OS gross when the award season kicked off in the early-start 2019. Same goes to Gravity in 2014, the movie further added about 25m upon its award recognition.
Xftg123
@titanic2187 Huh, so there possibly is a chance it might happen. That'd be good to see.

I still don't know exact drops in Europe, only in Italy but it's drop in Asia like in SK, Japan, HK, India, and Indo still excellent even some better than avg CBM movie. In country like SK it drop 50% this week but that's normal for CBM movie, also in Japan only 15% drop.
reddevil19
Right now, if it continues to drop steeply, it could miss 300 DOM - hopefully it holds better domestically next weekend, as there's no direct competition. Terminator is opening in foreign markets, though, and it's mainly going to be internationally-driven, so I can see some steeper international drops for Joker, even if it recovers domestically. So I'm not really sold on 600 internationally. 1 1

I personally think 625 already locked. One of the thing that will make me doubt it if it get <65m weekend OS. Genyishit did 350 OS and only a third was China. I think it can still do 300+ - obviously not huge, but a big enough impact to hit Joker's legs. This weekend hold will obviously tell us more, but I don't think it's impossible for an R-rated drama to just hit a wall, having exhausted its audience and curiosity factor, thus dropping 55%+ continuously from here on. So I'm not really sold on 600 internationally. Suicide Squad made another $61m after the third weekend where SS made $20.8m, of course SS has summer weekdays, but even in the weekdays Joker has bigger than SS Weekdays (this week), with a much bigger third weekend ( between $28m- $30m), $300m Domestic 100% guaranteed to Joker. RJ 95
Japan - Sunday It's already 9.30 pm in Japan as 99% of box office already counted and Joker will end this day with just 3% drop from yesterday. Also with admission alone it only drop 35% from first weekend. I just don't know what to say about this. After this weekend its total probably in 24-25.5m range. All of you know that Japan box office is all about legs but Joker already opened with a big number for solo superhero movie. Then it also develop legs that I don't think I've ever seen in recent SH. Probably early Spidey or Batman '89. I mean Joker already 5x it's opening weekend and possibly will end with 7x or 8x it's OW. Valonqar
It was fun while it lasted but I think we should accept the truth that Joker most likely won't be the first R movie to cross 1B. It made 77M OS this weekend and unless I'm mistaken that's a pretty steep drop.

This has further diluted domestic contribution to one-third, which is quite insane considering non-china grossing here. 1 1
