Some pretty cringy comments in here about that Saturday bump...

Fri the 13th was a very good theory imo. That 220% bump is not normal.

Yes, and it ended up beating Avatar (a movie that had multiple re-releases as well).  It was a fair fight. ASIB vs Venom wasn't. Since one of them didn't have a re-release.

I guess if ASIB wasn't nominated for Oscar best picture, no one will bother to re-release it

A bigger issue than the re-release with extra footage or whatever it was is how many times WB re-expanded the theater count later in its run. They pissed away millions of dollars just to desperately try and get it in the 2018 domestic Top 10.

In the end they failed, BR sneak into top 10 of 2018.

Oh yeah I forgot that it kept being re-expanded so many times LOL.  If I remember correctly the promotional budget was on the level of most blockbusters (120 million dollars), which was way more than Venom.

Eh those movies had the Spacey problem. THis was supposed to be a major movie 49M budget. She's BO poison. And she dragged  Elgort down with her.

So it's everyone else's fault but Ansel Elgort? I'm sure you'll find a way to claim that The Fault in Our Stars and Baby Driver's success all had to do with box office super star Ansel Elgort despite his other starring roles being flops.

*And having flops isn't exactly a bad thing. 99.9% of actors/actresses have flops on their resumes. But it's ironic when people make claims about an actor/actress being a box office draw and then when several of their movies flop, they point the blame to everyone else. You can't just attribute success to the actor/actress and then failure gets pointed else where. If Ansel is the star you think he is, Goldfinch should have at least opened in the double digits.

Relatively strong hold for IT Chapter Two and a terrific opening for Hustlers (The Goldfinch...well, not so much, to put it nicely). The fall movie season is already off to a great start following an uneven summer and will hopefully continue throughout the holidays, especially considering how much product that's actually appealing is opening between now and the end of the year.

Fri 13 + near 3 hour runtime+ no prior non-OW weekends makes the whole thing pretty tricky. I think the Sat bump would have cleared 50% on a normal weekend but there’s just no way to know for sure.

Pretty interested in the 3rd, 4th weekend Fri and Sat daily increases. Those compared to It 1 will help interpret how skewed these 2 days were.
