Arctic Dogs isn't too bad so far.  Maybe it will drop 70% today instead of 80%

Nah, definitely headed for 80%. Check all other animated / kid films playing during this time of year.

As for Mal 2, while 80% would be rough, any fall breaks that may have been going on are definitely over. Its high but still within normal bounds, especially with Sunday being a bit higher than usual for the time of year.

the numbers for Arctic Dogs are so small.  Maybe Monday's for some locations is more like -50% for that movie if they serve up each showtime differently.  "Maleficent week #4, opening week! try to bring in 1/4 of the opening weekend"

what would it take for animated movie to avoid -80% drops after Sundays curving out around -85%?

Mal 2 is dropping like 81% from yesterday and Jokah around 71%. Seem more harsh than usual even for Joker. But this is just one chain and could be under indexed

Expected 70% for joker esp after strong Saturday and Sunday performance. 71% would not be suprising.

It's falling below DP weekdays today but it will compensate for that with stronger weekends and of course an Oscar bump. 330m+ Dom.

81% would also be normal for Mal 2

The problem has nothing to do with the numbers (large or small) but with the core percentage of its audience not being available. Doesnt matter if the animated films opens to 3m or 30m the monday drop during the school year is almost always 80%+ unless a holiday offsets it. Matter of fact you are more likely for 85%+ than under 80%.

Its one reason that studios release more family flicks in the summer and the big holiday corridors since school is less of an issue.

Crazily, it was a day off Monday in some huge school districts.  Some districts are closed Monday and Tuesday for the election, while some more are just closed Tuesday.
