Everything about this movie looks horrible, on the same level as Ms. Marvel and She Hulk.

If it gets reviews like Ms Marvel that's basically the only thing that could pull up the box office.  Idk where this idea people hate the series is from.

The issue with Ms Marvel wasn't critical reception, it's that no one watched the damn thing. You keep using critical reception as a shield for it, but if so few people watched, was it because it never looked appealing form the get-go? If so, isn't that just as big an issue as a bad reception?

It is a problem, but obviously good critical reception will have at least a small positive effect on viewership. Ms. marvel may have gotten even lower viewership had the reviews been poor.

Although, you're talking as if it was a low quality show. Saying The Marvels looks as "horrible".

Well, compared to the bigger Disney + shows yes. But "lowest Marvel show" is still better than basically every other original on the entire platform. Not to mention a significant reason for that was Obi-wan opening at the same time, which is why theyve now gone out of their way to not schedule two big shows right against each other.

Super early first reaction:

For comparison sake, this guy generally is on the mark critic consensus wise with most other Marvel stuff. Didn't like Quantumania, Secret Invasion, thought Thor 4 was just okay, etc.

Oh yeah, looks like he was right on the pulse of the critics as a group for Quantumania and Thor 4. Very promising

There are some reviews on letterboxd. Most people are surprised by how much they liked it

This adds a new wrinkle onto the ongoing meltdown situation. Maybe we can expect good legs from the positive reception. Unless they’re fake.

I wasn't the one who described it as horrible. It was simply unappealing to me, but I feel the same about most D+ shows.

like if you just deleted all characters that were in flops, we wouldn't have the Hulk anymore because he got 2 solo movies that did nothing, but he works pretty great in support.

this is the point. Not every character is meant to be a lead or co-lead. Falcon was effective supporting character and ineffective lead on FATWS. They tried with Hulk as the lead which didn't work out but he became a terrific supporting character. Not everyone should get a solo show or a solo movie or even a co-lead movie/show. There's no shame in being a great supporting character. Look at GOTG. It's full of great supporting characters. Giving solo projects to too many characters is what created fatigue and devalued the brand.

Idk what lettrboxd does for curation, if any, but it does seem more credible than say IMDB which is basically a madhouse

They're probably still overestimating it.

Well, we're just a few days away from the movie release in theaters, so it should be difficult that Deadline would be too wrong, right?
