charlie Jatinder
BTW I wonder if this will go like one timeline straight as it go in future episodes or random timelines picked up. Initially I thought the latter but after this promo Captain Carter is in coming episodes as well I guess.
RRA
When in doubt, Marvel goes back to their reliable playbook: TEAM UP! Anyway this pilot for WHAT IF...? is fun, brief, and slight. Like the source comic book and its one-shot nature, it's not so much another expansion of the Marvel universe (or in this case the MCU) as much an insular endeavor, In other words, nerd porn. It's great having alot of the THE FIRST AVENGER folks show up again in this pilot since that is one of my favorite MCU pictures. But I'll admit even the animation won me over, which I was iffy on from marketing we've seen. Some of it looks wonky at times which can be off-putting, yet other instances it's attempt at fluidity in motion reminded me of rotoscope animation. Ralph Bakshi might get a boner from this. Menor the Destroyer
Liked the animation, rest was just ok. Hopefully future episodes do more interesting things with the premise.

Cooper Legion
From chatter from the creatives/cast, sounds like the Doctor Strange episode (ep 4) is going to be huge. Maybe Wandavision ep 5 level impact (hopefully gets paid off better, lol). Edited August 16, 2021 by Lokis Legion
Cap
That actually really works as a send off to T’Challa and Boseman, even if not originally intended as one. I felt an odd sense of closure watching that. 🥺 2
charlie Jatinder
This was awesome. Bring more in.
Jamiem
This was really cool, amazing how much changed. Love the send off for Chadwick some nice touches at the end.
charlie Jatinder
Where was Gamora? 😁
RRA
2 minutes ago, charlie Jatinder said: Where was Gamora? 😁 Better question, why is Gamora? Yeah this was dope. If one was annoyed by the pilot being a condensed remix retelling of the first Cap movie, then that won't be a problem here. Sure Black Panther becoming Star-Lord is a big divergence, but the surprises resulting from the scrambling of the GOTG mythos is even more fun and surprising. Especially one twist which I won't spoil.

4815162342
Thinking about it, this episode confirmed for me that What If should have been structured as a story arcs of a few episodes each showing the ripple effects of the change over time. The most interesting developments in Episode 2 were conveyed via exposition! Not to mention the single episode nature meant handwaving that Wakanda turned out exactly the same apparently even though no T'Challa could have resulted in interesting developments there And the real fun with Captain Carter doesn't happen until post WW2 because no Winter Soldier could drastically change a lot of character arcs over time. SnokesLegs
That was infinitely better, they really should have opened with that one. Showing actual changes that happen is so much more interesting and entertaining than a straightforward re-skin like the Peggy Carter episode. Fingers crossed the rest of the episodes are more like this one. Djimon Hounsou being all excitable absolutely killed me 😂 Guessing The Collector hit the gym in this timeline as well, he looked like Blanka from Street Fighter! Cap
Captain Carter felt like a pilot/proof of concept. This felt like “oh, we good to go? Let’s party.”
Morieris
I didn't watch the Captain Carter episode, but I thought this one was good. GOTG and BP are my two favorite franchises from Marvel (Sub franchises?), so I'm glad they mashed up these two.

Darth Lehnsherr
I agree that the Captain Carter one was ok but this one was great. Partly I think due to the array of characters this episode had access too while the amount of MCU characters in the Captain Carter episode was a bit limited due to the time period and how they wrote it. lilmac
The second episode was far superior to the first. I was not interested at all in the first episode's premise but the follow up episode? Yea, I can definitely get behind Thanos as just one of the guys. It was awesome!
