Harkins Thursday

The Invitation - 1193/19450 (89 showings) $13,020

Looks like $750-800K previews.

3000 Years of Longing - 320/18079 (81 showings) $3,343

Yeah this ain't doing well here. At all. Normally an under-indexing title would probably be around $225K, but this seems to be selling a lot better in East.

Harkins Friday

Invitation - 3528/40174 (168 showings) $38,334

Seems like ~$2-2.25M FRI for $2.75-3M opening day. Weekend may be $7-8M.

I don't know how familiar people here are with this website called The Quorum (I know some people here expressed their thoughts before), but I made a data analysis on some of their metrics and I think it would be really interesting for some of you, and perhaps an interesting reference point for the future. I probably should have put it in here, but the analysis was way too big for one post lol

National Cinema Day was already mentioned here earlier, but I'm seeing listings confirming it will indeed be the same case here in the US as it is for the UK. $3 tickets before tax, will work for any movie in current release, at any major theater chain, at any time of the day. Same price point applies for PLFs and 3D as well. (Assuming $3 Dolby/IMAX tix will be a huge deal in some circles) Seeing $3 listings for Beast, Dragon Ball, Bullet Train, Nope, Invitation, Honk for Jesus, Jaws 3D, etc.

Yeah, the announcement went live this morning. Shows for Saturday should be available for purchase and/or tracking

Really curious how this is going play out

The Woman King is officially rated PG-13 (doubt that's much of a surprise). Didn't realize until now just how R-heavy the fall is, so maybe the few movies to be granted a PG-13 or lower will benefit from having a potentially wider audience net.

Cinema Day is definitely having an early impact on sales here in the Salt Lake Valley. Among holdovers, Top Gun and Super Pets are showing the biggest increases, followed by Elvis, Minions, and Bullet Train. Not seeing any bumps yet in Dragon, Three Thousand, or Beast.

NWH only has three Saturday showings at the theaters I checked, but they are selling briskly.

why 3 dollars why not 1 dollar, why not free, feel sorry for the artist that made those movies

You obviously have a deep compassion for the artists who made these films, @Gokira2012, and that's great, but I don't think one day out of 365 is going to break anyone, and if it helps to reintroduce some people to theatergoing, or to catch a film they might have loved but wouldn't have seen at the regular price, well, then everyone- artists, exhibitors, studios, and the audience- wins, right?

Comps

0.089x of Eternals T-9 days - $850K

0.149x of Shang Chi T-9 days - $1.27M

I guess $750-1000K may be a good target for it, which may lead to $4-6M weekend.

Spider-man: No Way Home (The more fun stuff) Harkins T-4 Days

Thursday - 396/21701 (86 showings) $4601

Friday - 487/39794 (141 showings) $5664
Saturday - 718/46882 (160 showings) $2154

Comps

0.100x of Eternals T-4 days - $950K

0.138x of Shang Chi T-4 days - $1.17M

With opening of Sep 3 sales, THU sales are now stagnant. Previews could be just $500K, may be lower. Let's see how high can SAT go. 10K? 15K? or just 5K?

Negative 1 dollar or bust. 100% sellouts every screen all day long

When i worked for Cineplex in another life(not one of the big 20 screen jobbies either, the lovely 3 screen Uptown), I had a manager tell me he would give Free Passes to everyone if it meant they spent money on the concessions, as that's pretty much how we got paid.

There is an 18 screen Regal IMAX location near me. The Friday offerings are:

Jaws (IMAX all day)

Jaws 3D

NWH 2 screens (1 regular and 1 Screen X)

Gigi & Nate

Honk for Jesus Save Your Soul

The Blob (1958 reissue)

Holdovers fighting for the other 11 screens

It looks like NWH and TGM are selling the best for Saturday’s $3 day. The Jaws IMAX tickets are $3 as well.
