So there is a chance it hits 150K if west coasts continue to show strong walkups. That means 8m previews if you just go by alpha.

Delta had become the dominant variant in the US by June, and it was heading in the same direction elsewhere by the summer. Omicron only started hitting in Nov/Dec. This played late Sep/early Oct. Even with high case numbers, restrictions were not crippling, and there was a bit of a lull in terms of the public's reaction to new variants.

 

And in terms of movie-going and general lockdowns/restrictions, that was NOT the height. There were few restrictions in place compared to 2020. If you want to use a comparison to make Black Adam look bad, go with Tenet, If Black Adam does less WW than Tenet did considering that had very little of the domestic market open and internationally a lot of people even if they COULD go to the cinema chose not to as it was literally the first thing to play after the massive lockdowns.
