ScreenX, on the other hand, IS 2D, but that might be an error.

Does ScreenX even do 3D? Surely the blurry screens to the left and right of you would be headache inducing. I’ve never seen them put on a 3D showing in that screen at the cinema near me.

No idea, as I never go to them, but that's as good an explanation as any as why they're the sole PLF 2D format I've seen so far.  Emphasis on so far.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s not physically possible; even if the main projector were 3D capable, I’m 95% sure the side screen projectors don’t even have that capability, so you’d be getting both formats at once … which is giving me a headache just thinking about it 🤕

I’m pretty sure all shows that can be 3D (including PLF) will be required to be (by Disney). Now what 3D demand will look like is another question …

All I know is, I won't be doing 3D. So if all of my PLF screens are going that route, I'll just be copping $8 tickets at my local Cinemark and hittin' the recline button!

there a specific reason for that? if theres a movie for which taking 3d risk is a good idea its avatar

Yea I can't perceive stereoscopic 3D like that so it does me no good.

Not really sure what to expect from this; last year's Chosen movie was extremely presales heavy and presumably a large chunk was group sales.  If we see the same thing this year, maybe we get a ~3.5m opening day?  Maybe 8m for the weekend?  Hoping for higher but erring on the side of caution.

I believe it was already known that Avatar 2 would go on sale Monday, which is accurate. If anyone wants to know the exact time on the day, at least one major nationwide chain has sales beginning at 6am EST.

Hmm… now I’m hearing it might be noon EST. Oh well, it’s one or the other!

EDIT: Well this is causing some confusion. One chain still has the time as 6, another has noon. Might be some inconsistencies as to who puts them on sale when.

9 am showtimes? Wow, thats...wow. Does anyone know if either of the inifinity war movies were that early?

This is going to be so much fun....

Edit for the record, Cineplex up here in Ontario is merely showing "coming soon" so imagine Monday they might start popping in-but who knows for sure with Cineplex.

Endgame had theaters essentially running nonstop from 6PM Thursday until about 10PM Sunday. For instance, Empire 25 in NYC had their final show for "Thursday" start at 3AM on Friday and their first Friday show started at 7AM.

I mean, I said as much in the report. If anyone reads it or just skips to the raw range and interprets that as doubting the film, it ain't my problem. 😆

Yeah, I just checked and I see times on fandango for Regal theaters here, but wtf the Marq*e STILL doesn't have a listing for their IMAX.  They've been renovating since like August what is taking so long?!

The legs part doesn't really have anything much to do with tracking, rather on how well you think the film is going to be recieved by audiences. Which I think you've completely missed the mark on! I understand if you do tracking all the time on regular movies, it's going to be difficult to predict anything over 5x legs, just like with Top Gun. The difference with Top Gun and this movie however is that we have more much information at our disposal to understand just how good Avatar 2 is going to be.
