Call me crazy but I liked this one better than the first.

 

More action in general, more variety in the action we get. Less boring parts.

 

Sure, the first hour the megs are more of a looming background threat,but there was still lots of other action happening. The first hour of the first film was much more boring IMO.

 

And the 3rd act goes bonkers.

 

It's still a silly big budget B film but I was entertained.

If this one does "just" 400M I think it's getting to the point where they risk losing money with a 3rd if it has a similar drop.

Warner Bros barely marketed this movie, I saw no ads online or on TV for it. So for it be doing $400M is pretty damn impressive especially considering the amount of flops this summer. There’ll always be a market for a movie like this out there. So I think a 3rd movie could be successful if they actually market it well and up the quality a bit.

I think if this goes over $400m they’ll make a third after all.

 

They possibly reduced the budget on this one: $129m, whereas the first was rumoured between 130-178m. I’m guessing WB only puts up half (potentially?)

I had no idea the first made over 500m, though I guess the budget wasn’t exactly small. It certainly never felt like an expensive movie.

this is basically the third act of the movie.

 

 

(The whole of the movie should have had this tone. shame we had to sit through a dull 1 hour before getting to the fun 45 minutes)
