I don’t know why anyone thought this thing would go under 400mil. No real competition for 6 weeks until Jurassic World:Dominion +++ Memorial Day weekend.

It would have needed a multiplier of less than 2.13 in order to go under 400. A multiplier that low would be abysmally bad.

I think some people overreacted because the internal Multiplier of the OW was so frontloaded. Doesnt make it less silly though.

Seems like Mother’s Day was a bit depressed. The Sat and Sun nums definitely put it in the running to miss 400 based on the appropriate historical comps. Will refresh some stuff soon with the mon actual.

Not only Tuesday bump, holiday jump and weekend jump are also weaker than pre-pandemic time. definitely we are losing some crowd to streaming.

People prefer to pay full price on Monday than discounted on Tuesday?

I think @BruiseCruise meant that watching a 3 hour movie regardless of the price of admission could be not worth the time and effort for many adults on a weekday/workday.

Look at big openings in 2018-19 and notice that massive movies tend to not behave as large on Tuesdays as smaller ones. They are already playing to much wider crowd and therefore have a smaller group to draw from.

Strange will be a small drop or rise if not closer to flat for the same reasons, although the short runtime does help.

Saw Bad Guys today for the 1st cheap Tuesday in a LOOOONG time!  Kids choice.

Kids loved it, and I'll say I definitely appreciated (as my kids put it) the lack of sickly sweet saccharine, the feeling of more freshness/originality in plot, and the rapid pace (one of my kids felt like the movie was only 1/2 an hour).

From the kids, we had an A, 2 A-s, and one B+ from the harsh grader.  I think I'd give it a solid B and a recommend.

Gonna post this in the Bad Guys thread, too...but this may have a little leg left in it for May, now with Strange not being a family option...
