First numbers from insidekino

Avengers with a strong hold: 1,05 Mio (equal to IW opening weekend)

Admissions till Sunday 3,89 mio

Wow,

1.05m Second Weekend, damn. Would mean like €12m ≈ $13.4m

IW added 2.325m after OW, that would mean 6.2m final, but I guess that 1st May already was and that Endgame might drop when the weather get's better again will prevent it from getting that far, but it at least has a chance to get to that (which would make it the highest attended movie since TFA...)

Right now I'd say realistic target is 5.7m (maybe a little lower or higher, so right around TLJ)

Highest 2nd Weekend in $ (Lord of the Ring movies had gigantic 2nd weekends (2&1 sold nearly as many adm. over the 2nd weekend as Endgame did on it's 5-day OW):

LotR 3: ~16m (in adm it's behin 2 &1) (those numbers seem really high)

LotR 2: ~15.9m

LotR 1: ~15.5m

Ice Age 3: $15.076m

TFA: $14.878m (after the highest OWend and OW in $)

Skyfall: $14.572m

Spectre: $13.972m

(Probably missed one or two) so it looks like it would be in eighth place in $. If one movie could do what LotR did now, we could have second weekends of $25m...

In adm. LotR 2 sold 2.08m (so nearly double)

I am really asking myself if any of the weekend records will ever get broken, I really doubt it.

Like HP1 for OWend, LotR 2 for 2nd Weekend, HP1 for 3rd Weekend, Titanic for 4th-15th Weekend, Dirty Dancing for 16th Weekend.

Also those movies are between 17 and 22 years old...🤣

Heute überschreitet AVENGERS - ENDGAME die 3 Mio. Besucher-Marke - der aktuelle Deutschland-Trend:

Translated from German by

Today AVENGERS-ENDGAME exceeds the 3 million visitor mark-the current German trend:

Quote

Trend:

Quote

Trend:
The holidays are over, but the weather forecast is gracious to the cinema industry.
And so Avengers - Endgame could expect the first trends after the second weekend with about 1.05 million visitors (that would be about at the level of the launch of Infinity War, which started with 1,075,122 visitors). On Friday, the Fourquel hits the 3 million visitor mark, on Saturday Infinity War and by Sunday, 3.89 million visitors should have seen the Marvel production.
This is followed by The Case Collini (95k), Monsieur Claude 2 (75k), After Passion (75k) and Royal Corgi - The Queen's Favorite (75k to Sunday) as the best newcomer.

And some Thursday actuals (source Blickpunkt:Film):

The new releases:

Royal Corgi (released in 415 theaters, Wednesday start): 2.3k → 75k admissions OW in the first trend
Der Flohmarkt von Madame Claire/Le dernier vide-grenier de Claire Darling (117): 1.75k → 15k OW
The Hole in the Ground (188): 1.7k → 27.5k OW
Fighting with My Family (173, Wednesday start): 1.6k → 22.5k OW
Serenity (only 90 theaters): 1k
Das schönste Paar (49): 550

The holdovers:

Avengers: Endgame: 110k/1.4M US$ (actuals last Thursday 311k)
Der Fall Collini: 10k (12k)
Monsieur Claude 2: 8k (13k)
After: 7.5k (actuals last Thursday 20k)
Van Gogh: 3k

It's rainy today where I live (yesterday it was rather sunny) and it's predicted to stay like that the whole weekend. In other regions it looks a bit better but not much. Only the Sunday could in the northern part of Germany become better weatherwise.

Germans are like "these movies are not bad "

Its a crazy overperformance here. To think that Infinity Wars OW was already a huge breakout last year and Endgame looks to have a good chance to outgross IW's OW in its 2nd weekend - thats kind of insane. I can only imagine that in this last year, IW and the rest of the MCU have generated a lot more Marvel fans here.

Yeah its not only in Germany...

I can say Thanos as a villian and the ending of IW left an impact on audiences that very very few major blockbusters ever left with people.

Well i believe that as well, just from my personal experience: Before watching Infinity War, the MCU formula kinda lost me, i started to find the movies too repetitive. IW changed that totally and became my favourite MCU film. I may be not planning to really continue with the MCU after Endgame, but i was never hyped as much for a Marvel movie as i was for Endgame.

Did IW overperformance help Cap Marvel?

Entirely possible. Though i would argue that (like in the rest of the world), beeing the MCU film right before Endgame also helped CM a lot. The character is totally unknown here in Germany so the character itself probably didnt have all that much to do with it grossing a fairly respectable amount of money (24M and counting). Beeing part of the MCU itself was imo the main driving force.

Let us see how Black Widow does next year. She was key part of Avengers. On the other hand she is not a top tier hero or having any amazing powers. So its more of a spy movie than a atypical SH movie.

Here is no reason to worry weatherwise. Where I live (Bavaria) it's really bad, rainy and cold. According to wetter.de it only looks sunny at the coast. Tomorrow will bring a bit more sunshine though.

Reservations at my theaters look a little bit "worse" than last Saturday but really only a little bit. And I'm not even sure if they didn't add another evening showing.

If done right I think it being an atypical SH movie could help... (or at least it wouldn't be a big disadvantage)
