The next one is not releasing before 2027, and the performance of that movie will depend upon Shuri's role in Avengers 5 and 6

It doesn’t matter what her role is. John Marston is right.
The fundamental issue is that Black Panther needs its main character back.

While I agree it has underperformed expectations I disagree that BP (or any MCU franchise) is in trouble. At the end of the day, it's going to be the 6th highest grossing film of the year WW and 3rd highest domestically. BP isn't in trouble, Thor isn't in trouble, Doctor Strange isn't in trouble. The marketplace is different and adjustments will occur.

Thor and Doctor Strange are in a better position because they have their popular main characters and male leads with some international appeal.

Black Panther without T’Challa will become a weaker and weaker franchise below Thor probably. So in that sense it’s in trouble.

Also, while expecting BPWF to increase from BP would be unrealsitic even with the original lead, DS2 was always going to increase a lot from the first so it was in better position. It tougher when a movie has nowhere to go but down. Thor, however, should have increased by more than it did considering he's the last of the Big Three to still has movies made. I think that fans miss Thor and Loki bromance. Jane and/or Valkyrie create different dynmaic and thus don't make up for it.

Re BPWF, I always thought a BP2 should be lower/par than Thor 4 outside African-American demo. BP1 was essential viewing for IW, that obviously boosted it overseas, but certainly helped in US as well.

THOR 4 was terribly received, so that made it tough, while BPWF had solid scores in US but trending hasn't been that good, instead more like the average/mid reception outside US.

THOR folded inside $350M but low competition across holiday periods of Thanksgiving and XMAS-NY will boost BPWF to $450M+, otherwise should have ideally ended around $420M or so. Both films would be similar in non-AfroAm demo, may be Thor a bit ahead, despite having much worse reception.

That posttrak for BP2 is super suspect, from what I remember it had a higher amount of people who said they would repeat watch then tgm did

yeah audience score went too high, but I think minority led films tend to have better scores than actual reception. Also Posttrak was polling 40%+ from African-American community, so that further increased the scores.

You guys have seen WF right? It’s pretty clear where they are going in the future without getting into spoilers.

You don't know how Disney operates; they want a female black lead movie franchise as representation also matters, so there is very little chance of T'Challa coming back soon as the main lead.

Disney only cares about money, look how they operate their parks, they price out the middle-class , greed rules

Theatrical money is not the only thing Disney cares about; they also care about Disney+ money and Parks money. A black female movie will attract more black females to Disney+ and Parks. And every studio only cares about money.

Lol Wanda and the multiverse aspects of MoM were the bigger pulls, not "male lead" Strange. The third film will drop like a rock if there aren't other franchise characters in it, especially as MoM was meh.

Marvel can always have team-ups like Civil War and Ragnarok to boost their individual films (heck, those films were designed to boost the Cap and Thor franchises respectively).

The paranoia is dumb.

Apocalypse canceled — 17.5ish still not great but makes a little more sense with the start of the week.

Maybe 13.5 for VN, quite a solid start and the satsun heaviness should help with legs.
