THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE | 04.19.2024 | Lionsgate | current gross: $19,279,156

I thought the trailer was pretty good but everything since then seems like this is going to bomb pretty bad. Lionsgate cranking out winner after winner , Guy Ritchie tossing another movie off and Henry Cavill can't catch a break.

Lionsgate just sucks. Guy Ritchie needs to start hooking up with big studios like WB again

It seems like they just can't figure out a hook for this, despite the fact that it's filled with popular jacked dudes and is a cross between like Kingsman and Inglorious Bastards. I assume a budget of at least $40m too. Would be embarrassing if they can't get this to like double digits/teens OW, but that's looking more and more likely to me.

Worth noting that it's coming out on Prime in most international markets (A strategy that I hate). I always wonder how much they make from those sales... Enough to meet its production budget?

Covenant and Operation Fortune were the same. I wonder if it's lucrative for Lionsgate, they get their money back on licensing to Prime so they dump it in the US for a few extra bucks without really investing extra.

Yeah I don't recall Deadline or whoever ever doing a write up on that strategy, for those 2 movies, Uncut Gems outside the US to Netflix, Saltburn did the same thing outside the US and UK. But that was already an Amazon MGM movie, so I guess those weren't sales.

Uncut Gems was such a last minute one that in Canada, theatres had to pull the posters off the wall closer to release because they weren't getting it.

Canada didn’t get Uncut Gems or Ritchie’s last 2 movies, but we did get Saltburn. Any idea whether this is getting a Canadian release?

It’s the only non-Deadpool movie this year that my dad wants to see.

I thought this was set in the 1940s, not the 2010s.

Oh, on a couple of World War 3 websites, we are having a lof of fun abut the anarchorisms in the trailer.

"Guns of Navarone" or "Dirty Dozen" it ain't.

Dirty Dozen is a low bar to clear. 🧐

I like the movie but the fact that it takes 2/3 of the movie before they go on the mission is kinda bizarre.

The Novel is the same way, on the last couple of chapters are devoted to the mission.
