Do we really need to make sure each CEO gets an equal amount of hate? Who cares if Zazlav gets more hate than Iger or whoever the CEO of Universal is? They all make tens of millions of dollars a year.

They pay top tier lawyers to defend them. They don’t need us to defend them too.

People complain because by singling out hatred towards Zaslav you are leaving others CEO who do exactly the same thing off the hook.

Honestly, people singling out Zaslav seems to be the ones (unintentionally) defending other CEO.

Again, why in the world should anyone care?

And “off the hook”? Is someone responsible for the strikes because they dislike Zazlov more than Iger or Bakish or Sarandos or any other CEO? I can guarantee you Zazlov is not losing sleep over this.

Why are we concerned about “fairly” dividing out dislike for CEOs at the tail end of one strike and the middle of a second one?

Probably coz they're sometimes viewed as proxy fights conversations about the companies themselves and especially fan driven properties of said companies.

Having clear cut villains in the narrative helps drum up support, it doesn't hurt it. Yes, Zaslav isn't the only evil exec but he definitely is one. People don't know what they're standing for if they don't have a focal point to channel their rage at.

Kind of like how Drew Barrymore is one of the most hated people in Hollywood right now. She should have waited out WGA strike like everyone else. Now she will go down in history as THAT big name actress scab that doesn't support writers.

lol nobody's going to hold this against America's Sweetheart Drew Barrymore. If anything, it looks stupid now that a lot of people tried to make her into the villain of the strike for ultimately nothing.

If anything, on net, Drew Barrymore probably accelerated the end of the writers strike by showing the AMPTP that they didn't have one of the escape valves they thought they might have had.

Don't want to oversell this as I think her contribution one way or the other wasn't major.  But, again on net, her actions probably helped the strikers overall.

Hey, I don't hate her. But if she had just not done absolutely nothing and waited out the 14 days there would be none of this stupid controversy online. She is at least guilty of being tone deaf and not feeling empathy for the striking writers.

She’s not hated at all. Once she changed course and stopped, folks thanked her for making the right choice and moved on.

Just tag me. Nobody is being defensive of him. It's just weird that if you're going to go after a CEO, go after all of them. They're all the same. By singling out one, you're letting the others off the hook.

I’ve seen plenty of people go after the others too, especially Bob Iger.

And anyone still giving her shit doesn't actually care about progress. People who change with feedback and end up making the right decision, should be supported in doing so. Otherwise why would anyone else feel the need to change?

Out of morbid curiosity… what would a resolved WGA situation but a continued SAG strike for months mean for the industry? New movies/shows getting underway would still be just as fucked I assume?

Pretty much.

At the very least scripts could be ready to go/more polished for when the switch got fliped.

Kiiiiinda cynically think one reason why the writers strike was settled first wasn't just because they were out the longest, but it lets the studios breathe a little and get some of their ducks in a row for when they finally come to terms with actors.

(though that Vulture piece suggests that the writers deal was the 'easier' one)
