Kind of impossible to understate how much COVID had to do with the budgets of these movies. Not just the tens of millions that insurance premiums and testing protocols would add, but any shutdown for productions of this scale balloons everything. DEAD RECKONING was the first major production to shut down due to COVID, over three years ago. No protocols to lean on. In classic MISSION form, the production had to make it up as they went.     Obviously this isn't just COVID, either. DIAL O

Elemental's run has been great following a lower than expected opening. Since there's nothing in terms of direct competition until TMNT (Barbie and Haunted Mansion are PG-13 movies that'll obviously bring in family audiences but not necessarily little ones), $160M+ might actually be possible at this point.

Live action PG-13 isn't direct competition with a PG animated movie..... hell Spider-verse is barely direct competition with Elemental.

Butbutbutbutbut it’s not a good run because it won’t be profitable theatrically.

There’s many movies to drop theaters before Elemental, Oppenheimer just like MI7 won’t hurt it because it’s totally different audiences. 
 

And while Barbie is a 4-quadrant picture and will hit Elemental, i think it’s still different enough than an actual family movie so Elemental is still in a privileged position. 
 

This weekend will drop insane 10%, i think next weekend drop will be bigger but still in 25-30% range. 
 

Feeling confident about +160M finish
