Great hold for TBOSAS. Just a -52% drop. Catching Fire dropped -64%, Mockingjay 1 dropped -65%, Mockingjay 2 -63%.

 

Good for Trolls also, a -61% drop is better than Frozen 2 -66% drop and Grinch's -63%.

That is a great hold for HG prequel. Is WOM effect finally kicking in? The movie is great! I do agree the last act was a bit sloppy but the movie has enough of freshness to make you feel that two event between prequel and sequel have their moment for own interpretation and exploration.

I think for HG , the good comp for this week are BP 2 ( 7M ; -65%) , FB2

For Trolls 3 it's Ghostbuster and a little The Grinch 2018 ( 4,7M ; -64%)

Hoping THG can get a drop in the 30% range this weekend, it's possible since it opened low.

 

The best 2nd weekend drop in series so far was MJ2 with 49%.

Imagine if Hunger Games ends up the biggest the movie of the November-December corridor. Honestly doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility at this point.

The only problem for the comp of 2018 , we had a very good jump Mon/Tue like 40-50% , here in post-covid it's more a 10-15% but now i think i could make a trajectory

If THG gets FB1's legs (3.16x) it hits $141m. 

 

FB2's legs (2.56x) gets it to $114m. 

 

It should do better than FB2, but the movie business climate is very different from 5 years ago. People are more picky now.

Even if Songbirds gets half of a 400, something like 200 DOM would be incredible. Of couse Im not expecting that, so maybe 150-170 DOM. First 2 THG films absolute monster each with 400m DOM.

 

GOTG3 has shown people will show up later and give movie great legs if WOM if good enough. There is not much going after Thanksgiving.

That's a really solid hold for Hunger Games, more than double the first Monday for The Marvels. It really shows the difference WOM can make. Both movies had a very similar OW (TM was about $1.5m ahead), BOSS has already moved $1.3m ahead after day 4.

 

I quite liked BOSS, even if like most others I thought the 3rd act was weak. Crowd reaction when it was over was quite positive. I think this will do a bit better than 3x its OW.

I hope this has a solid Tuesday bump, I'd love to see $6.6m to double TM first Tuesday.
