"Even more stunt doubles and creepy kissing scenes, please!"

Well, Bond is human and humans do age. Okay, so Bond could get out of breath. He could use his cane instead of his fists. Everything is too easy for Bond right now. Give him a back back! Give him Viagra! Give him a cane instead of fists. But the important thing is that he could use his wits instead of his brawn. He could be more human.

People enjoy Bond vicariously. You can give him character flaws to make him relatable, but as soon as the audience stops wanting to be/fuck Bond then the film crumbles. It's supposed to be an onscreen fantasy.

This is also why Indiana Jones movies with an old Harrison Ford didn't and will continue to not work.

Very good point.

Apparently Sony executives told Daniel Craig to shut up after he said he'd rather slash his wrists than play Bond again.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/spectre-daniel-craig-told-to-shut-up-by-sony-executives-because-of-james-bond-comments-a6690856.html

With a $350m budget for this movie, one would imagine so.

Their source said: “They had problems initially with the script, Craig was injured on the set and needed knee surgery, and they were still doing re-shoots last month, even though the movie is out in weeks. It was a very difficult shoot, to say the least.”

No wonder he doesn't want to think about Bond for another year or two if he was injured and still doing filming just weeks ago .  Is any of that part true?

Doubt the reshoots bit is true. Remember that that Time Out interview took place DAYS after filming wrapped start of July. Lots missing that point.

There were other way more recently taken interviews in which Craig says about being contracted for one more.

It's funny that it is the antithesis of the John McClane's character appeal, the more he became that invincible über action man fantasy, the more he sucked.

Lol, Jackman would've been a terrible Bond. It would be like Brosnan's Bond on steroids (figuratively and literally).

I don't think Jackman would have been good either but I thought Brosnan was great as Bond. I thought he was a perfect blend of Connery and Moore.

I've grown to love Die Another Day, sue me. It might be as good as GoldenEye to me. The World is Not Enough has a sick opening, but nothing else and Tomorrow Never Dies is a snore.

I like The World is Not Enough, it actually has a villain with a defined motivation beyond taking over the world (although that is a part of it), they did screw up by casting Denise Richards for sure. Tomorrow Never Dies is good for half the movie, Die Another Day otoh is right up there in contention for the title of worst Bond movie.
