I didn't see any elements of Austin Powers in the movie.. but obviously Austin Powers is way better.

The fact that Bond can walk in open space whilst 10 guys are shooting at him and he can pick each of them off one by one.

Spoiler

It was particularly bad when he escaped the villains lair in the desert.

What scenes did he do that in?

Hooooooly shit. $64M opening in UK. With the "Tracking in 60s" talk, it'd be hilarious if its UK opening outgrossed its US opening lmao.

I actually can't believe my eyes, this money is insane.

Country
Dist. Release
Date
Total Gross / As Of
FOREIGN TOTAL - 10/26/15 $80,400,000 11/1/15

United Kingdom Sony 10/26/15 $63,800,000 11/1/15

When I saw this I refused to believe it is real... (well, it's an overestimation but still insane)

TBF, US opening weekends usually aren't 6 1/2 days though (over a holiday week) B)

Hmm...the last UK OW record holder was HP:DH2's $38M. And Skyfall only opened at $32M in UK.

A $64M OW for Spectre, despite the exchange rates right now.......Damn impressive.

Sorry, Harry....but James Bond has taken your UK OW record.

$64m is what it's earned since Monday, Harry Potter still has the Opening Weekend record in the UK very comfortably.

This would be bigger than SW if the whole world shared the UK's inclinations. :P

And Fast & Furious (Furious 7 is the 3rd biggest movie ever at the local box office) would be bigger than SW if the world followed Portugal's inclinations. And Minions would be bigger than both (Minions is the 2nd biggest movie ever).

Analyzing country by country can be super funny sometimes.

I liked it, it's maybe not Skyfall/Casino Royale but definitely far better than Quantum of Solace.

I think the best scene was the opening. The tracking shot was very impressive and the helicopter battle was more tense than I thought it would be from the trailers.

There are definitely some big issues though. Honestly I thought the Bond/Swann relationship was the weakest part because I never really bought it and a good chunk of the film suffers because of that. Swann never really seemed to stand out from most other Bond girls so I never really bought the idea that Bond would fall in love with her like he did for Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, probably because Seydoux and Craig never really shared that much chemistry together.

Waltz was good as Blofeld, the first time he appears covered in shadows and making the whole room go quiet was amazing to be honest. Though after that scene he doesn't appear again until there's like 40 minutes left of the movie but he did well for the short screentime he had. Am I the only one who wonders what happened to his cat after his base blew up though?

One thing people should know going in is that it is pretty drawn out. Sometimes the pacing works and sometimes it doesn't. For example, the Rome car chase went on way longer than it had to. Once they got to the aqueduct I just wanted the scene to be over with. Then some scenes kinda randomly happen like Mr. Hinx (who btw left the film way too soon) attacking Bond on the train.

If you expect a lot Monica Bellucci, don't, she only has like four scenes and then she's never seen again.

I like that the rest of the MI6 gang got stuff to do, but I like even more that the movie mostly focuses on Bond and keeps the MI6 stuff as a side-plot.

The climax was honestly a bit underwhelming. I didn't think Bond's greatest nemesis would go down that easily.
