Disney released Frozen dvd  4 months after it opened in Japan just at the start of summer season

Obon is about 4 months after Theater release. They screwed the BO pooch once, they'll do it again

It's currently 12.3% over Sunday's rate. I see it ending between 10%-12%, so 125,000-127,000.

I agree with you on this.

 

And there is almost no piracy in Japan for one because it is reprimanded very severely and for two because Japanese people tend to obey authorities.

Domestic side,

Current gross is $334.4M... The debut of Angry Birds did not seem to have affected Zootopia very much.

The week-over-week drop for weekends is estimated to be 40%, which is not much more than the average 25%~30% weekly drop.

Considering the reviews of Angry Birds (43% on rotten tomatoes now), this is likely the most that Angry Birds can make Zootopia drop from now on.

A final number of between $338M~$340M is likely.

 

OS-Japan side,

The gross last week is only around $1.4M... There is probably only around $1.5M more left in the current markets.

Turkey may well help contribute $2M~$3M, but that's it.

Final gross should be around $609.5M~$611M

 

Japan side,

Another weekly increase in revenue. 

The weekend gross should be around $4.6M, making the weekly gross $7M and the total gross so far around $41.3M.

$60M is the minimum that Japan can do now. Anywhere between $65M~$75M is possible... with good chances of increasing.

With one billion dollars assured, I'm looking at two further milestones.

 

Reasonable: Pass at least two billion-dollar movies. The next one after Dark Knight is the first Hobbit movie, at 1021.1 million. That's only 1.6 million above Foul01's estimate, so it's probably a coin-flip right now.

 

Challenging: Pass Big Hero 6 in Japan. That earned $76.8 million, so it will be difficult, especially with the yen depreciating again.
