The Magnificent Seven | 9/23/16 | Reviews coming in - not exactly Magnificent

I actually liked how he wrote a gay couple in the middle of his western so casually.

In fact I'm finding it difficult to think of a big movie like this that gets how to display minorities as well as this one does. It all felt pretty natural to me and I haven't heard many people say otherwise either.

All the earlier James Horner discussion has gotten me amped for when I do the next iteration of BOT's Top Film Scores early next year.

Hopefully this time around our Top 10 won't be painfully obvious and predictable.

Ended up being pretty similar performance wise.

It's a western, those don't really travel well overseas. Revenant had Di Caprio and Django had that plus Tarantino, both of which are quite popular OS. But True Grit, for example, didn't have this kind of hook for OS audiences - and it was also much more of a classic western than those two - and it performed pretty badly compared to its DOM take.

Disappointing run for Mag 7, but not that unexpected. I was expecting 200 WW and it will fall a bit short of that.
