Justin121
This is nuts! I expected big middies for MM but Ted really blew me out of the water. I just wonder how big both will be. Ted could be gigantic, although that middie # is going to be a bit frontloaded.Still, just looking at past midnights Ted and MM are both 30M+ as a minimum if history repeats itself. If MM followed TDI it would still end up over 33M.
ecstasy
Yep but MM had one show, so technically, it did better than Ted.I don't know what Nikki meant by that. There were theaters that had more than one show.

Robertron
That's absolutely incredible for both. Was expecting around $1-1.2m for each - definitely not over $2m!This basically guarantees $25m OW for both!
Jack Nevada
This has nothing to do with anything BUT I'M SEEING HAYAO MIYAZAKI'S PORCO ROSSO ON THE BIG SCREEN IN AN HOUR! :excited:

I'd say 33M each (TDIs OW with 2M midnights) is the floor.
Robertron
I was going to say $30m for both, but wasn't feeling game enough - with this year, who knows!!
rockNrollaDIM
I can't believe majority of us chose THAT'S MY BOMB and FLOP OF AGES as our wildcards for BSG over Magic Mike/Ted
JarJarBinks
Not trying to take anything away from Magic Mike's midnight performance at all, but I am personally much more surprised by the Ted #. Regardless of what happens the rest of today, would expect Ted to hold up at least somewhat better than Magic Mike on Sat and Sun just from the demos and walk-up business. cgold
Wow. Amazing figures for both. With a $7m budget and a promotional campaign that didn't seem exorbitantly expensive Magic Mike is going to make a killing. I want to see both movies but Magic Mike is definitely my must see. filmnerdjamie
Not surprised especially by Ted. Who hasn't heard office co-workers talking about how funny it looks and preview screenings have been playing through the roof.
Accursed Arachnid!™
Knew I should have stuck with my gut* on Ted.*I say this at least twice a year.
Gopher
I've been championing for Ted to break out all year. I'm glad it's going to do great business. It's a really, really funny movie.
kayumanggi
Yeah...EVERY YEAR I regret not including a film in Baumer's top 12 game.
filmnerdjamie
The moment Universal moved Ted to this weekend instead of the sacrificial lamb July 13 slot, it was clear they had a winner.
Fake
Excellent for both openers. MM should pull ahead for OD but not by much. For weekend, it will be very close.
Gopher
I think Ted comfortably has the weekend. Magic Mike should still top 30 but IMO the floor for Ted is 35.
Kvikk Lunsj
LOL I knew this would be close. Ted edged out MM in the midnights. Crazy. This will be a great, great weekend. Ted wuill probably win the weekend. But as I said in the other thread, this thing can go either way.Ted audience is younger. MM will have an older audience so its midnights will be lower.
