Rsyu
Has no korean film made 4million yet? That must me unprecedented since the dawn of the 7million admissions era Yup, such a crap year for the Korean film industry who have no one to blame but themselves for their own downfall. Busy period coming up ahead is vital for the industry but it could easily go tits up if expected hits disappoint or MI5 overperforms. SchumacherFTW
Can JW cross Kingsman's # of admissions and reach the #2 spot for 2015? I'd be pretty shocked if it managed that. 5.5m is a good shout if you ask me.
Rsyu
Can JW cross Kingsman's # of admissions and reach the #2 spot for 2015? Well, Jurassic World reachded 4 million admissions 8 days earlier than Kingsman and it has summer weekdays now so you can't rule it out I guess. All things considered though, I think it's unlikely. The word of mouth on Kingsman was pretty amazing and I don't think JW comes close.

The MERS virus scare (which is still ongoing) saw the number of people visiting the cinema drop to depressing lows. Despite the big difference in admissions, the gap in gross is not as large due to the increased price of movie tickets and the YTD gross is still the largest on record by a slim margin. June was the fifth consecutive month that foreign releases came in higher than local releases. During 2015, local films have only had a higher percentage during the month of January, which was propelled by the mega hit Ode to my Father (2nd most attended film of all time). The biggest hit of the month was without surprise Jurassic World. While the reception in Korea wasn't as fervent as in other parts of the world (namely, North America and United Kingdom), the nostalgia factor alone was enough to bring in huge crowds during the weekend which at times saw amazing jumps over weekdays way north of 100%. Currently it looks like it could finish somewhere around 5.5-6 million admissions. Korean films endured a torrid start to the month but came back strong with The Classified File and Northern Limit Line. The latter in particular has a 9.36/10.0 audience rating and 9.10/10.0 netizen rating on Naver and looks to have strong legs going into the summer box office season.
