Sam
The number for Dark Phoenix looks sad, but Rocketman number is just horrible , was hoping it’s gonna pull some decent numbers from a musical-friendly country like SK. UserHN
Do you know if they put the Marvel logo at the beginning of DP? I just hope it won't bring damage to the shine of the Marvel brand in Korea. That country really loves their MCU movies. Ugh. This should have gone straight to streaming. I think Disney just reluctantly released it in theaters due to contractual obligation. Edited June 5, 2019 by UserHN

Even tho it was owned by Fox it was still Marvel property

But that's just what I think though.
Sam
Marvel is still a licensed brand, so MCU or not, any movies that adapted Marvel characters would have to carry the brand logo. They’re just not the Marvel Studios logo like with MCU movies, but rather the big standard red MARVEL one, sometimes with the words “in association with” attached to it

I'm just thinking of all those new casuals who suddenly watch the MCU movies because of the 2 last Avengers movies. They might not know that DP has nothing at all to do with the MCU. Well, every franchise has it ups and downs, one bad movie (within MCU or not) won’t change overall perception much. With the amount of money and GA that Infinity War/Endgame brought in, there bounds to be people who knows nothing about MCU history, that whether or not DP is part of this film universe won’t matter in the end. I mean, I have a friend who watched and liked quite a few MCU movies, yet still asked me if Shazam is part of Marvel after watching it lol. Sam
OD: 122,197 admits for Dark Phoenix. For comparison On 5/25/2016 at 10:33 AM, Olive said: X-men:Apocalypse OD - 296,066/ 300,523 ( inflated by Culture day) DOFP: Previews - 91,295 Thursday - 213,000 Friday - 279,147 Saturday - 593,896 Sunday - 578,511 Total - 4,313,871 Apocalypse OD was inflated, but an almost 60% drop in admissions is still plain bad.

ZeeSoh
Table of Xmen movie grosses in South Korea OD 3 day OW Full OW Total Apocalypse 298,816 DOFP 1,451,554 1,755,849 (4 day) DOFP 4,313,871 Logan 256,255 Apocalypse 1,168,852 1,643,413 (5 day) Apocalypse 2,938,818 DOFP 213,000 First Class 785,458 1,023,348 (5 day) First Class 2,543,979 DP 122,566 Logan 632,982 1,079,865 (5 day) Logan 2,169,109 First Class 98,052 Note that Logan and Days of Future Past had big previews of 99,025 admissions and 91,295 admissions before opening which is not included in the OD gross. Here are the OD of some other comparable SH movies Justice League - 153,553 Aquaman - 145,383 Guardians of the Galaxy 1 - 121,886 Thor 2 - 114,775 Shazam - 86,809 Most of these movies went on to gross at least a million in their 5 day OW which is where Dark Phoenix should aim for. Most of these movies also went on to have a total admissions somewhere around 2m mark. If DP achieves that, it will be a good run imo considering its reviews. Overall out of the 37 MCU+DCEU+Xmen+Deadpool movies (since First Class), Dark Phoenix had the 31st lowest OD, only ahead of 6 movies. Coming to reviews, here are the naver ratings for Dark Phoenix and other SH movies. Movies - Audience/Netizen Endgame - 9.50/9.39 Infinity War - 9.08/8.95 Deadpool 2 - 9.09/8.69 Ant Man 2 - 8.85/8.62 SMH - 8.83/8.37 DOFP - 8.76/8.88 Aquaman - 8.76/8.35 Dark Phoenix - 8.80/7.59 Deadpool 1 - 8.53/8.21 Black Panther - 8.33/7.49 Apocalypse - 8.24/8.20 Justice League - 7.90/7.73 Shazam - 7.77/5.88 So the ratings are not that bad, better than recent movies that failed like Godzilla 2 (8.13/7.22), Detective Pikachu (8.53/8.22). However, ratings on the CGV app is really really bad at 78% which is really low. So I dont know why there is such a discrepancy. Anyways I think its unlikely that Dark Phoenix will fail like Godzilla and Pikachu did recently, but its also not gonna touch the totals of any of the previous xmen movies (since First Class). It's likely gonna fall below 2m total admissions and if the bad reviews catch up with it then a sub 1.5m or perhaps even a sub 1.0m total is possible. Plus the competition from Parasite and Aladdin is too strong. 3
