The prospect of a sequel for TASM is an odd one. With the amount of money it'll make OS it's a given, but it doesn't feel like this is getting the kind of good will that BB or Casino Royale had. Perhaps it doesn't matter anymore.

Excellent based on what? It had a bit better of a bump than Transformers did on Friday but it also fell much worse than it did for two days. This just puts it on track for a possible 240-250 finish. It's not bad of course, but not great.

With 137-140M, TASM should do 270M+.

Looks at the DOM gross... Merchandice is billion $ buissness with Spiderman..It has 73% on RT.. A and A- minus in cinemascore.. Best gross of a reboot ever..I admit that i hoped for 300 mill DOM but you have to be blind not to see the franchise in this..

A 65m weekend is certainly better than I'd have expected after that Thursday. But either way it's not hitting 300m, so at this point we're arguing over trivialities...

If it's anything like this one was. Really, their best shot is to have a coherent script before they film it and not hack it to bits in the editing room. And given how relatively close May 2014 is, they better have a decent plan.

I wouldn't say its gotten a negative reception. If all Sony aspired to do was to top SM3, I guess they succeeded.If they wanted a strong foundation to build a new franchise off of, I'd argue they missed the mark.
