i guess TDKR vs TA will get worse next week.Anyway IA4 number is just BAD. Even it will be hit by TDKR next week and will probably make < 150M domestic. But OS would save the day and we are sure to get IA7 for shoo.Solid for ASM. let us see how sat/sun numbers are. Last week it had very good friday increase but mediocre IM for the weekend. Anyway it should cross 200M by monday.

Cool list! Here's my revised one:

#1 - Marvel properties(Avengers & satellites Thor, Cap, IM, ?, ?, etc. / X-Men: FC2, X2, FC / Spidey: TASM2, SM2, TASM / the new F4 / DD?)

#2 - DC properties(Bats: Nolan et al., Supes: MoS, a GL done right, JL?, WW?, Flash?, & yes... Aquaman?!)

#3 - Star Trek '09, the new & improved reset, from Abrams' reboot

#'s 4 & 5 - Potter & LOTR, they flip-flop back & forth for me, but loves 'em both 'bout equally

#6 - Bond, with Daniel Craig... as of right now anyway, could get knocked down the list by...

THG? When I finally see it, that is. As mentioned, there's also Indy, Sherlock, etc., etc. ... Besides Star Wars & Matrix, what other BIG $ franchises are there? Computer animated films, like Toy Story maybe? Oh, and there's Twilight too, I suppose. What else tho? What am I missin'? Hmmm... perhaps this topic deserves its own thread. What say ye?

But just about everything I listed above could be considered a series of adaptations, from comic books, TV shows, and yes, novels. It's true, LOTR, HP, & THG have a finite number of entries, but so did Star Wars.

Media franchises, but not movie franchises... huh? Not sure I'm followin' or can agree on that. Why can't they be both?

Well, if a movie franchise is not based of a pre-existing literature, there'd be Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean. I may be wrong though. Animation has Shrek and Toy Story.

Exhibitor Relations ‏@ERCboxofficeICE AGE 4 broke the ice w/ an estimated $16.5M yesterday--putting it on pace for close to $50M.

That IMO is much better. From 14 to 16.5M is not bad at all. Still not great but not bad all. But I dont see it hit 50M. Most likely around 47M weekend.
