The Futurist
Wait, so JLaw will be in this and the other DOR movie announced? Yep. In this one she has a small part but probably enough for a supporting nod with a big baity scene. The other movie is a big Oscar epic produced by Harvey that is being sold ONLY on Jlaw's name. They don't even have a name for the male lead which will be the driving character of the entire movie.
Master Scottb
JLaw (or her agent) is being very smart about her career so far, finding an almost perfect balance between big budget/franchise films (Hunger Games, X-Men) and Oscar-bait type movies (Winter's Bone, DOR movies).
Chewy
I wonder if DOR will ever go back and shoot that final scene for Nailed now that he has some clout

TLK
I think they are making a mistake by releasing it so soon after DOR's success this year. Academy isn't too keen on nominating same people in successive years and the release date isn't very good either. November release is always better for dramatic movies like this. Gopher
Release date is good. Sony seems to be giving it the ZDT treatment this season. With presumably less Washington controversy, it'll be fine. If the movie is good then it'll resonate with voters. If anything, voters may think DOR is overdue after losing for Silver Linings Playbook. Michael Gary Scott
Yeah being released in October really hurt Argo.

People talk about controversy but the fact is that Sony bungled the campaign at every point and a lot had to do with the release date. They didn't even get the screeners out in time for SAG nominations. Release date matters especially when the entire process has shifted forward. DOR is another issue. He just finished three months of campaigning. Now he is going to spend the next 8 months preparing to release the movie just in time for another three month of campaigning. The movie will start shooting next week and it is pretty obvious that they are rushing the movie. There is a good chance that this movie and The Monuments Men are going to be hurt by their schedules.
The Futurist
Nope. It happens all the time. It s just because of the Internet, we know more things. Nothing is rushed, O Russell has been working on this movie for a long time. He shot SLP in Autumn of 2011 !!!

Nothing is rushed, O Russell has been working on this movie for a long time. He shot SLP in Autumn of 2011 !!! Autumn of 2011 meant it was ready to screen at the TIFF. That's where the hype started. This movie will start shooting next month and it won't be ready before November-December which means that it won't be ready for either Toronto or New York. Hurt quality-wise? I don't get that. I don't know about the quality but movies like this need to build awards hype. Being released in december really hurt Django Unchained didnt it Actually it did. Django release was rushed and it never quite made it into the upper echelon of contenders. BP and BD were out for all intents and purposes once it didn't make the SAG deadline. In fact, none of the directors of December or later releases made the cut this year.
newknicksfan
This film is getting the same release strategy as the Fighter i believe. That worked out pretty good considering the fighter nearly made 100m domestic. And this one has 5 huge stars in it.
