American Hustle (12.20.13) NEW TRAILER PAGE 35

Bradley Cooper is having a ball though. When he is mocking his strait-laced supervisor (even when the poor guy is in his presence), laughing it up with his crew, he is perfectly cast as a good looking douche bag

Because he always got that douchebag schtick since Wedding Crashers. I hated him for that smug face in every single appearance of his until SLP.

But in AH, I think he's the only one who puts the phony aspect of his part to 11 a lot more natural than J-Law (that Live and Let Die part was cringe worthy) and genuinely believes in the uneven script even if he didn't realize that the movie would end up as a disjointed succession of Goodfellas/Casino/Boogie Nights cosplay comedy skits stitched together by a phony direction that failed to be on par with the aforementioned movies.

Very weird movie when the little parts (actor skits playing against each other"I'm complementing you!". "Why do you care? You're mexican!") are better than the sum that is pointless, meandering, harmless and fluffy as hell. It's like watching a first draft or a first raw edit.

Agreed, when the actual plot kicks in I became engaged - at least enough to care about what happened until it completely petered out at the end.

People seemed to have wildly high expectations for the movie after the first lot of reviews, but I went in assuming it'd be nothing more than a slight, well-acted caper and that's mostly what I got. Russell doesn't make deep movies and there was certainly no reason to think this would be one.

Agreed. I was watching the first 20 or so movies. I was totally engaged after that. Just a really good flick.Don't get the backlash. Just some good, incredibly well acted cinema.
