The Warner Bros. Thread | Will NOT merge with Paramount...capitalism is still terrible

Recommended Posts

Zaslav truly thinks the Disney + Marvel shows could have been made into MCU films and Disney stupidly lost money putting them on streaming. This guys a freaking moron.

Sure as if the quality of the MCU isn't already at an all time low lets have Ms. Marvel be released as a theatrical film, let's bore the audience to tears and make even more cringeworthy jokes then Thor Love and Thunder. Oh but at the end we'll have an easter egg from a 90's cartoon show that if you were not from that era will fly right over your head.

Ms. Marvel couldn't even crack the top 10 in Nielson but sure it would have grossed a lot at the box office...

Wow, this is farcical.
The more I’m hearing about this the more I think the previous regime must have had the most non-sensical plans ever. This is drastic action being taken to right a ship that most didn’t even think was close to sinking.

There was me patiently waiting for HBO Max in the U.K., and now it’s not even going to be a thing in its existing guise.

Sad for all these people recruited for what were seemingly wildly unrealistic goals.

Theatrically marvel already has way too much on its plate to accommodate these smaller properties. DC/WB are not in that place. They don't have endless Avengers movies/team ups to plan for.. they can't even get a Flash movie out lol

There is some funny Discussion happening regarding HBO Max tho….it has really never ever been considered anything significant in the streaming race. Other than with the crowds that populate Internet forums like this. It barely broke into the Nielsen radar with 1%.

It had a built in base of 38-39m subs in the US and 60-61m worldwide the second it launched has has grown very meagerly since then….seen a bunch of people tout its sub numbers like they are new subs starting from May 2020. They converted the vast majority of the current subs they have from legacy HBO subs and claimed it some major success. And revenue growth numbers have been amongst the worst in the business. All the math is spelled out by @Potiki in the VOD section. It might be a certain demographic favorite streamer but it certainly isn’t on the radar for most.

its clear they needed a new strategy IF they wanted any attempt at not being dusted by Disney/Netflix/Amazon. And Zaslav is desperate to be up there. Bundling would have been a a good way to go. This is going to be a slaughter.

Ever since The Dark Knight trilogy, DC has been in a very dark time.

The only quality content over at DC are the fantastic animated films. They shit all over the DCEU.

Oh, stop with the melodrama.

They don't have an overarching plan sure, but they've had plenty of quality product, be it Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad (and Peacemaker), Shazam, The Batman or even Aquaman as pure over the top fun madness. On the flip side there's been plenty of shit on the animated front too.

They're simply inconsistent.

But obviously this goes way beyond DC. WB as a whole is now about to be redefined for its immediate future.

The Discovery+ US infrastructure is apparently super tough to crack with a VPN. If HBO folds into Discovery I might get blocked out. I’m afraid my days as a HBO Max customer might be over, but we’ll see.

HBO Max was never going to be up there with something like Disney+. WB simply doesn’t have the resources to compete with the company that owns Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and The Simpsons. Zaslav is out of his mind if he thinks dropping all their scripted content is what the service needs.

…well he’s attempting to mimic the Disney model now with his silos and such. It will be another failed attempt at Warner trying to scale up and try to be Disney. But they’re set on attempting it so we just gotta wait for it to unfold. The news of their UK content is a pretty bad sign.

Some people need to chill in here. LOL.

The moves Zaslav is making either are going to be legendary in a few years or the worst in history.

They know HBO is their juggernaut and they are going to give it even more emphasis now.

It sucks that we are not gonna get new scripted shows exclusive to the streaming service though.
