And? He took over as studio head, of course he’s gonna keep his stuff cause he thinks it’s good. It’s really not hard to comprehend tbh. If it doesn’t work out he’ll be fired, it’s pretty simple.

It’s not like Gunn’s own stuff was all that successful either. A full reboot would’ve been much simpler.

I think Levi knows his mainstream career is over. He's going to become yet another Daily Wire grifter like Gina Carano.

People are way over-exaggerating here, Levi will be fine, this isn’t even remotely close to a Gina Carano situation. Most people seem to be on his side when it comes to his comments about The Rock vetoing story ideas.

As you said, how in the world did they end up with an Earth-based detective story for GL instead of a space opera?

Why is Daredevil exiled to streaming when he was an early candidate for big budget adaptation? I really think the studios are wary about rebooting B/C list franchises after they flop. WB doesn't want to risk 200M on GL, and True Detective gives them a prestige-y hook for cheaper atmospherics over crazy VFX.

That is nonsense Why throw away crowd pleasers like Momoa and (despite what happened with WW:1984) Gal Gadot just for the sake of theory about how a total reboot would be simpler (which I don't think is true>

They kept Judi Dench as M when they did a reboot of 007, and it worked out fine. I think some fans have problems accepting that in the end it is just an actor playing a freaking role.

It’s almost guaranteed at this point that they are throwing away Momoa and Gadot. Momoa might play Lobo in the DCU, but his time as Aquaman looks like it’s just about finished. The only remnants of the DCEU that look like they’ll survive in the DCU are the James Gunn projects and maybe the Blue Beetle movie.

I just think that if they’re gonna go to such great lengths to do a reboot, they might as well go all the way with it and start completely fresh.

Of course, I still maintain that it’s too late for DC to do a new interconnected universe, and that they’d be better off focusing on standalone projects, but Zaslav wants WB to be like Disney, because he’s a cynical corporate executive who likes to chase trends.

Momoa as Lobo would be a waste. Most people don't give a crap about Lobo and all the "Shazam=C lister" stuff is about a hundred times worse with Lobo.

Agreed.

I see that some people here did not read where Gunn siad they would keep what worked in the current DCU.

Problem is some people get wrapped up in theory like "The DCU should do a total reboot" and ignore reality. DC Studios would be idiots to throw away crowd pleasers like Momoa as Aquaman and Gadot as Wonder Woman. Granted, they did not like Jenkins olan ofor WW3, but if you read their annoucnemnts they made clear they were still interested in Gadot's Wondy as a charecter.

Anyone thinking they are about to watch Flash and Aquaman make similar money to THE BATMAN but then move on from the lead actors is crazy.

Aquaman 2 isn't getting anywhere near The Batman and should be punted (probably in favor of Dune, which would be a much better use of those IMAX screens). If WB doesn't punt somebody will smell blood in the water and schedule a big opener vs it. Acting like a Dead Snyderverse movie is automatically gonna do Rise of Skywalker money is LOL.

Flash is TBD.

Bad comparasion. Momoa does not have anywhere near the problems that Miller has. It's that you don't know hen Miller will fall off the wagon that makes him pretty much unempolyable as the lead in a big budget movie.

At this point we really don't have enough information about the reboot for me to have an opinion on whether a full reboot is better than a partial reboot.  It's all going to come down to execution.  Hopefully, The Flash will shed some light on what the rebooted universe will look like.

Momoa has the advantage that he's not tied down to just Aquaman, there's another WB franchise that he may appear in should the upcoming film be successful.

Even if Aquaman is terrible they’re not giving up that Xmas slot, it will be their best shot at making money. To even suggest they should is dumb tbh.

And what better does WB have for it's big Holiday movie?

They bowed ouf of the Holiday race last year, won't do it again.
