Solid action film with The Rock, why aren't the Chinese loving it?

Chinese audience prefer modern action movies rather than European ancient fantasy movies.

Although Hercules is not a fantasy movies, it looks like a fantasy one just like Hobbit.

It's quite bad for Guardians too. I mean at this point, $8M is the best-case scenario for the weekend. That's a 62% drop from last weekend.

Considering there were two major openers, even 62% drop is a good drop.

Maybe it was released too late? The day it was released, a very high quality print became available on the internet. And Hercules isn't exactly a must-see-in-theaters kind of movie. Probably people just preferred to download it.

GOTG lost like 60% of showtimes compared to last weekend.

And it still increased from Thursday, its hold is good all things considered.

It may end up $5M within TASM2 numbers, I didn't expect this coming.

It is a just flavor-catering problem which I can't explain.

I don't understand why Japanese like animation movies so much either.

BTW,LOTRs earned good box office in China.The third chapter tops all foreign movies in 2004.

My prediction for Lucy is 45M or so, agree with TMNT and MR numbers.

Thats ok. All I needed was 75M+ so it could beat Maleficent WW and even TASM WW. With 90M+ it's looking to finish at 760M+ WW, amazing result no matter how you look at it.

Only 25% Saturday increase for Lucy. Less than 20 mln OW.

100% Saturday increase for Guardians. Should be around 88 mln after Sunday.

Decent OW for Lucy. I'm happy with anything over $35m from China, enough to push it past $450m WW, everything else is gravy.

 

The Fri and Saturday numbers are already enough to get Lucy over $300m OS, another milestone breached.

Because SARFT wants local movies to dominate. And unless there's some co-production going on (like for TF4), that's what Hollywood movies get.

So great Breakup Buddies, low budget high earning. The local is doing better and better. i can not estimate...whether Gone with the bullet (18,Dec) can beat TF4. if Breakup Buddies can cross 1.2B, Gone with the bullet will do 2B+. Great Asian, on the way to beat Hollywood.
