It really sucks that Deadpool 2 even when  supposedly a PG-13 version was made by Fox to get a Chinese release will not be able to go through.

There's no way Deadpool 2 could be edited to get a pg-13 rating. 

 

By the way, how the hell did Logan get released in China? I mean, it's much more violent and brutal than Deadpool.

probably the fact that if you remove that violence from Logan, the film is relatively tame. 

 

If you removed all the violence and swearing from DP2, you'd end up with a 10 minute short film lol

A decent number of them get releases. BR2049 released, both Kingsman films released, even Alien Covenant released. Deadpool and Mad Max are the recent ones that got skipped over. Suicide Squad got skipped, and it was already PG-13.

DP is way too raunchy to be cut down. Most movies that get an edited release are just for violence where they can edit out the brutal shots. DP is just one raunchy jokes after another.

Violence and profanity aside, the jokes in Deadpool come a mile a minute and are very cultural specific. The bulk of the film would be completely lost in translation. It’s a very smart decision not to release there.

I felt like Deadpool 2 wasnt that raunchy though especially compared to the first. It felt more meta and referential like @jiangsen said. It's probably why it didn't do as well at the box office because well if you don't get the reference then you don't get the "joke."

 

In terms of the actual film, you could literally cut out the most violent aspect of the film (there are two scenes back to back) without missing a beat. 

 

Like I can see why the first Deadpool didn't get a release but after watching DP2 I'm wondering why it didn't get one especially since Logan got a release and I felt like that one was far more violent. I understand the jokes aspect of it but a lot of what DP says he says with his mask on so I'd imagine even those were different with the censored cut. But I have no clue lol I do wonder though if given the lackluster performance elsewhere, if Fox doesn't try a different cut although I'm not sure if they're even allowed to do that.

Deadpool 2 has a more gentle version in Hong Kong(rated IIB, and a III like R in US). I think that’s what they delivered to Chinese Film Bureau.
