Bilibili is a Video Sharing Platform like YouTube. Bruce is mentioning the view count. But the view count difference in Weibo is very high. Avatar 2 (8.25M) vs Avengers: Endgame (25.98M). Olive had mentioned back that the buzz isn't at the level of Endgame. NCsoft
This is turning out to be a devastating year for China box office tracking.

Hardly surprising between the film's inclusion of a gay kiss and Chapek recently earning the ire of the super-online Chinese nationalists for stating that Disney is going fine without China. Genuinely impressive to see how quickly the folks in Beijing are eroding China's status as a global box office power player.

Permabanning isn't really a thing in China as they can (and often do) get around to forgiving people for perceived slights against China/the nation-state. Plus, even if they're not making it into theaters, Disney still has a significant presence in China between places like Shanghai Disneyland (which has been closed for two and a half months thanks to lockdown) and stores and merchandising and the like. The wildly optimistic best-case scenario for Thor 4 is that the movie receives a release date in September similar to Spider-Man Homecoming and Ant-Man and the Wasp since July and August are traditionally blackout months where Hollywood movies aren't allowed to play in theaters. Realistically, however, Thor won't make it to China.
charlie Jatinder
Considering how Paramount is lucky this year, who knows Laal Singh Chaddha breakout in China.

The authority there is in hysterical mood now and even something safer like Avatar 2 seem vulnerable to get a release date. Without a proper release date confirmed or at least some certainty, it is very hard to market this movie properly for it to become the breakout hit it needed.

Then why aren't you guys giving dates? Also Are you comparing teaser trailers or final trailers? I feel like you might be comparing 3.5 years of endgame views vs less than a month of avatar 2 views. titanic2187
Rough calculation have china box office at around ¥730m or around $110m in the entire May, compared to near $780m of domestic market. The different is the box office of the entire second lake movie. How many lakes are there left in china to save box office?

Krissykins
I don’t follow China box office but that’s nice to see Escape Room 2 had its worldwide gross inflated a bit. Is Jurassic World Dominion releasing? Is it expected to do anything? The last two did $228-261m.
dudalb
Western Movies access to China is always on a tightrope, and don't think the studios execs don't occasionally lose sleep over this fact.
