Does your film rely on past sequels and knowledge from previous works to increase the level of enjoyment substantially?

 

Jussaric World had it's own story, all new characters and no world building needed except "this is zoo but for dinosaurs."

 

Fast and Furious stories always work stand alone. I could go watch FF7 then FF3 then FF5.

 

The Force Awakens on the other hands had plenty of characters from the past that you need to know and a world that needed building. Think about how ANH taught you about Lightsabers and Jedi.

Will need to hold -12/13% T-Th to do 2.3x OW for $100m. W3 fell 15% per day and will do 2.1x OW.   Kong and the other release will take half the screens. Not much cooking the following weekend.
