Not necessarily, they have too little time to prepare its re-release and the buzz can be very limited. Even the rerelease news is regarded a surprise by Hollywood reporters

¥50M it need to top Endgame, unless Endgame also get its actual updated $2800-2803M. 

 

It's not much of money but still a lot. Inception re-release did ¥33M in fairly open market, now there are regular new release, so let's see.

I feel like this one is making closer to interestellar or harry potter re-release bc of how big avatar was. However that was at a time where people were hungry for theaters, now people came from seeing many movies.

I don't know you but me I feel like Avatar could easily earn $5M on his first day of re-release in china. Hollywood is maybe dead in China but not a huge phenomenon like Avatar.

A great 2012 interview with Cameron linked within that Hollywood Reporter piece today.  I know I harp on Chinese Govt's current regulations/perspective/status elsewhere in this forum...but this interview is interesting, because once again... CAMERON KNEW how the global box office would change in 5-10 years time.  (Although 3D hasn't quite worked out...)
