Lake Changjin is garbage. 800 feels like a masterpiece relatively.

I hope the sequel dont make in Top 100 WW. Don't wanna watch it.

Yeah I've watched some of the most popular Chinese films in recent years and the only ones I liked enough were Better Days and Hi Mom (even if it was a bit too long, a few minutes less would have been ideal). On the other hand the various Wolf Warrior, Wandering Earth, Monster Hunt etc were all quite mediocre

Compared to the movies of the "neighbors" (Japan, South Korea, India, even the old Taiwanese movies) there is simply no competition 🤷‍♂️

South Korea is the best. You get the production values of Western standards and emotions of Asian cinema. Korean film industry can be as big as Hollywood box office if dealt rightly.

The chance that Wolf Warrior 3 get greenlight has been gone since western world accused China of doing wolf warrior diplomacy. Wolf Warrior 2 caused a headache for Beijing in terms of handling diplomatic relationships after it was widely praised as an impressive propaganda film with $870M box office revenue. And high ranks banned Wolf Warrior 3 in order to avoid more complicated diplomatic situation.

At this point, China is devoted to make movies about resist US aggression and aid Korea(Korea War) like Changjin. But as the relationship between China & South Korea improves, this kind of movies they support right now could be in danger at some point. Politicians would not allow cultures to take over politics.

Prediction: Space Movie to advertise their Space Station

Maybe even a Three Body Problem Movie 😃

Avatar 3 (2024) : 31K

Avatar 4 (2026) : 22K

Avatar 5 (2028) : 9K

If the current record is 4.3M then A2 needs to get over 5M.

DC3 was a let down but it’s opening was massive. If it had a “Hi, Mom” type of reaction it would have done $1B.

2021 Lunar New Year Anticipation (Actuals)

1️⃣ Detective Chinatown 3 : 4,468,547

2️⃣ Hi Mom : 1,162,302

3️⃣ The Yin Yang Master : 537,583

4️⃣ A Writer's Odyssey : 500,948

5️⃣ Boonie Bear: The Wild Life : 390,157

Hi Mom type WOM is enough for great legs. But, problem is will it get extended theatrical windows (I meant 90 days instead of traditional 30 days window) is doubtful. I think it's good to have bigger OW like $300M, but only God knows JC potential, I think $450M+ OW is still possible, as this anticipation numbers still have 11 months more to grow. +We are not having a trailer out yet. Adding everything $1B is our present target.

From China Daily Just days before a release date was announced for "The Battle at Lake Changjin II," the most-anticipated film for Spring Festival was sci-fi comedy "Super Family," however, it pulled its release, citing post-production delays, along with several other smaller films originally scheduled for Spring Festival releases.

Some observers wondered whether they were in fact canceled out of a fear of going up against "The Battle at Lake Changjin II."
