Investors were expecting a franchise too. Dreamworks stock has tanked the past 2 days. Down about 8%.

Egh.... Shortsellers and panicked investors again. The company still has decent value. It'll go up again soon.

We'll see how it ends up. But if that price tag at BOM is accurate, and with those reviews, the film has no chance of becoming a hit. The problem I see with Hemsworth (as much as I love him) is that he seems very generic and run-of-the-mill. Yes, he is hot, and yes, he is charismatic, but I don't see him being distinctive enough to actually become a draw on his own, and not backed by iconic superhero properties or fairy tales.

Fair enough. One thing though, Red Dawn has sat on a shelf collecting dust for a few years, so if it comes anywhere close to making it's budget back, I think Film Districtw will be happy with that.

Friday jumps required for Skyfall and BD1 to put them on track for 300m (assuming Skyfall exactly follows CR and BD2 exactly follows BD1 from Friday):Skyfall: 85%BD2: 136%Looks tough for both..... so these two will need to have better holds.

I love Hemsworth, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He is not a draw. Thor and Avengers' success had nothing to do with his presence, SWATH's success was more about the iconic fairytale and Theron than about either of its leads, Cabin in the Woods didn't set the box office on fire (and frankly, do you honestly think that what people remember from CITW and SWATH is Hemsworth?), and Red Dawn is a critically-reviled flop.

Thor's success had plenty to do with Hemsworth. He and Branagh created a likable character who females can swoon over without guys getting intimidated.

I enjoyed Skyfall a lot but I feel like if I watch it again, the plot will seem way too ridiculous and the acting/dialogue/action/cinematography won't be fresh and exciting enough to make up for it. Let the first impression stay. On the other hand, Casino Royale I feel like I can rewatch any time and love it all over again. At the end, it's just a superior, more emotionally investing story. And... yeah, Eva Green. ;)
