BoxOffice.com Presents the Top 25 Animated Films of all-time

Recommended Posts

Happy South Park made it, depressed about Jungle Book and Kung Fu Pandas.Do wish that Lion King or Aladdin could have managed to snatch 1st, but it wasn't a bad showing.I do feel that the list makes Pixar/Disney animation to be far more dominant than it actually is though. (Even if most of the films listed are amazing).

15 films from my list made it.Glad that some older Disney made it (Pinocchio, Dumbo, Fantasia, Snow White) and that WALL-E topped Lion King for #1.Some of my personal eligible favorites that didn't make the cut were Akira, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland and Princess Mononoke.

Of all the exclusions from my personal list, 101 Dalmatians bothers me most. That movie is gold. Horace and Jasper are hilarious and it's just got such a classic feel. I also think Rio is a very underappreciated movie. That movie was laugh out loud funny to me. The birds played by will.i.am and Jamie Foxx were hilarious. Lastly, the Polar Express is a magical movie during the holidays that's become a Christmas classic. Would have been cool to see it slip in.

101 Dalmatians falling 1 point short of the tie breaker hurt. I felt it had a great chance to beat Shrek 2 and the Fantastic Mr. Fox in a tie breaker. However, seeing the popularity of the Fantastic Mr. Fox, maybe it wouldn't have beat it. Also, seeing The Jungle Book fall 2 points short of the tie breaker hurt. I would have liked to see how it performed in the tie breaker.

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were tied a lot. Those 2 films stalked each other. It is so fitting that they ended up so close to each other on the final list. Also, Fantasia came out of nowhere to make the final list. The last ballot is the one that pushed Fantasia into the top 25 out of nowhere. Without the last 2 ballots, Fantasia would have finished way off the list. Also, Mulan made a very late push to get onto the list and just got over the hump to get in with the last few ballots.

I think its a credit to how many great animated films there are more than a genuine complaint about the list, but in my opinion Films 20-29 kick films 10-19's arse. The head to head thing is interesting. I wonder how different some things could look if the top 64 were put into a seeded 64 film knockout of tiebreakers. Ignoring the fact that everyone would hate it afer about vote number 3, I could imagine some interesting results when it is just one film up against another.
