Blankments
Oh yeah: Emma Thompson will be nominated. Nice meaty role. First one who called her even having a chance, and now she's practically a lock
forg
Goddamn. I really think that if Short Term 12 had played at Sundance and gotten a better distributor then Brie Larson would be a shoo-in for a nomination a la Jen Lawrence in Winter's Bone or someone as "the indie choice". A shame. Agree! And Kaitlyn Dever for Supporting Actress could have been a possibility as well

Blankments
Maybe not. She could miss. Really don't see how. She's in the top 3 with Blanchett and Bullock easily
ddddeeee
Dayum, there's a serious anti-Meryl sentiment seemingly everywhere online these days.

CoolioD1
IS Sandra Bullock the front runner to win in this category? Nah, I'd say Cate Blanchett right now.
mahnamahna
Dayum, there's a serious anti-Meryl sentiment seemingly everywhere online these days. Because's she's had 18 nominations and 3 wins... Amy Adams has 0 wins and 4 nods. Streep is essentially the Yankees/Heat/Patriots of the Oscars... people aren't rooting for her to win unless her performance is BEYOND a doubt better than the other 4 nominees COMBINED. She already won for Iron Lady despite it being fairly mediocre Jack Nicholson would probably face the same backlash if he got another nod for The Departed (which he didn't)
mcclaine
This is my taste, not what i think the Academy will choose.Meryl Streep (August Osage County) Cate Blanchet (Blue Jasmine) Sandra Bullock (Gravity) Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Color) Julie Delpy (Before Midnight) Supporting Roles.Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave)Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine)Julianne Moore (What Maisie Knew) Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle)Octavia Spencer (Fruitvale Station)
Leyla
Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Color) Julie Delpy (Before Midnight) highly unlikely
Godzilla
Streep will have passion votes, Adams will not. Honestly when you compare the 2 performances together, it's obvious that Streep should get in. And she most likely will because she has a SAG nom which is a more important precursor to have because the actors are going to nominate the nominees. Also early talk from Academy screenings is that Lawrence outshined Adams and frankly the whole cast. And there's also talk that the Academy responded extremely well with August Osage County.
