Goffe
I think Sony has a winner on their hands. Going full loony here, but if it's well marketed, I can see it making 90m on OW.

Even Avatar didn't come close to that. This isn't even in 3D, is it?
tonytr87
I could see it doing Interstellar numbers on OW but not 90m.

Goffe
Against Star Wars which is direct competition? You mean two movies can't coexist on Christmas?
JennaJ
Is Assassin's Creed still coming the same day as this? I keep expecting it to move.
zackzack
Dream casting. I would be surprised if this didn't open to at least $50M

trifle
This may be fan generated, but it drew a response from the director on twitter: Quote Morten Tyldum Verified account @mortentyldum @TCmovies94 @SG_Posters @prattprattpratt I like it... #Passengersmovie #Passengers

There's room for more than one. That nothing did 200m last December I honestly believe has less to do with Star Wars than what was released.

No they won't because it will be seen as a tentative from hollywood to do a somehwat original film where the drawing power comes from its 2 stars. A reminder of the good ol' days ... So it will have B- reviews for effort, at worst. Unless it is an abysmal film but chances of that are low.
mrqe93
For the first time in so many years, people will flock to theater to see the "stars." Not sure about Chris Pratt and J Law though. Couldn't care less about them Edited May 5, 2016 by mrqe93

However, after the fiasco that was Joy, this will most certainly put Jlaw back in the good graces of the box office gods.
JennaJ
5 hours ago, The Futurist said: This movie will be bullet proof, critics wise. I don't see why it would be, though. Joy certainly wasn't for JLaw, Tomorrowland and Jupiter Ascending certainly weren't for original SciFi movies... I don't think critics will ignore faults in the movie just because it's original or because of how likable the stars are. I think star power carries some weight in getting people initially interested in a property, but that then has to combine with a good movie. If reviews are good to great, this movie could be a big hit. If reviews are poor, having Jlaw and Pratt won't save the box office. So I hope the movie is just as great as the initial buzz for it indicates. Edited May 4, 2016 by JennaJ
